Welcome to Natural Pain Relief For Fibromyalgia

Chronic Pain Relief

There is so much advice out there about chronic pain but what really works?

Sufferers are so mislead by the media because there is such a big profit opportunity from people who are desperate to end their pain.

– Drug companies advertise on tv that their pill is the secret to living a great life as they list off their side effects that take up half the commercial time.

– Tylenol companies advertise that their pain pills “get you back to normal”.

Is that what the world has come to? We are normal if we are drugged up on prescription medications and pain meds?

We are so desperate to find relief we try this and that only to find that it isn’t
really working.

We have to put up with side effects such as:

– weight gain, head aches, stomach pain, swelling, constipation, diarrhea, decreased sexual desire or ability, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth, increased sweating, loss of appetite, increased appetite, sore throat, tiredness, trouble sleeping, vomiting, weakness.

Then there are the more severe symptoms of:

– severe allergic reactions such as  rash, hives, itching, difficulty breathing,
tightness in the chest, swelling of the mouth, face, lips or tongue, unusual
hoarseness, bizarre behaviour, bloody or black tarry stools, blurred vision,
confusion, dark urine, decreased concentration, decreased coordination,
fainting, fast or irregular heartbeat, fever or chills, hallucinations, memory
loss, mouth sores or ulcers, new or worsening mental or mood changes eg.
aggressiveness, agitation, anxiety, depression, hostility, impulsiveness,
irritability, panic attacks, restlessness, pale stools, red swollen, blistered
or peeling skin, ringing in the ears, seizures, severe or persistent dizziness
or headaches, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, tiredness, weakness, trouble sleeping, sluggishness, stiff muscles, stomach pain, suicidal thoughts or attempts, tremors, trouble urinating, unusual bruising or bleeding, unusual weakness, vomitting that looks like coffee grounds, yellowing of the skin or eyes.

Then we have the unfortunate who experience

– heart attacks, strokes, kidney damage, liver damage, successful suicides, anaphylaxis shock and even death.

That is quite a list isn’t it? And all from these drugs that are going to help with your pain and change your life as you know it. Helping you with your pain. That list came mostly from the Cymbalta side effects list, one of the drugs of choice for Fibromyalgia.

I looked to the medical system for years and I experienced a long list of the above and a near death situation. If I didn’t have such a big will to live I wouldn’t be here. Well believe me, if you keep taking pills year after year you WILL develop stomach problems along with a wide array of new symptoms. It seems like you keep adding illnesses to your list of conditions and they keep adding pills for the symptoms which mostly come from the pills. It is like a domino effect that keeps you falling the wrong way, into a chronic pain syndrome instead of out of pain, you become weakened and more dependant on everyone.

There is another way and I am finding my way out of the deep dark hole of our current medical system that didn’t work for me. It was weakening my body to a point that I didn’t find much reason for living. Nothing worked, pills had me to a point that I couldn’t eat anything because it caused so much internal pain, I couldn’t sleep, I couldn’t wake up, I was in a permanent brain fog and on and on. There was only one way to describe it, MISERY. I went for help and ended up getting more symptoms, more pain, more disbelief from sceptic doctors, more frustration and a lot of pills.

Now today is different. I am still in pain but I have learned how to deal with my it on such a positive level. My stomach is so much better, I have less symptoms, I can sleep better, the brain fog is gone, I know my triggers, I know how to deal with each symptom, I know when and what contributes to my pain and I feel alive instead of near death. That alone is worth it’s weight and gold. Before I dreaded living the rest of my life in the state I was in, now I feel there is a light and I am looking forward to being pain free one day. I look forward to having grandchildren one day and being able to be with them instead of them sitting in my wheelchair with me or lying in my death bed.

If you want to learn to live your life with your pain opposed to suffering your life away with pain, I invite you to sign up for my newsletter and follow my path to wellness. I want to help you help yourself out of a very hard life of the
chronic pain cycle. The answer isn’t in a pill bottle but in a wide array of
solutions. I can help!

Welcome to Natural Pain Relief For Fibromyalgia

Natural Pain Relief for Fibromyalgia

There is so much pain in Fibromyalgia. The worst being the unknown. When you suffer from the severe chronic pain one can experience from Fibromyalgia it can be so overwhelming to the patient who has no support or no one who really understands.

It is even harder when you have a critical doctor who doesn’t take your pain
seriously enough. When you are in the dark about all the pain it is hard to function. I can help with a few simple natural remedies that can help you through your crisis.

  • Find a new doctor who understands and believes you.

  • Find someone to talk to who is compassionate and believes you are experiencing real and debilitating pain.

  • Use ice on the painful muscles.

  • Stop using the painful muscle until you have stretched it out to relieve the
pain. If stretching doesn’t do it, you need to use ice, have a bath in Epsom salts, relax or sleep it off. If you keep working a tight muscle it will
continue to get into a bigger ball of pain. We are only human and repetitive
    work leads to strained muscles.

  • Stay off the couch! Couches keep you in bad posture and only add to painful

  • Keep your body fit. I know it is hard when you are in pain but from experience, your pain will increase with time if you don’t. Even walking will help. Stretching is best.

  • Be aware of what could be causing you the pain and don’t let yourself get to
that point. An example is when I am on the computer too long, I experience
pain in the center of my back, my neck, shoulders and wrists. Be aware of
how you are sitting, the position of your neck, your shoulders and feet. We
should be taught good posture in school and how to maintain it. Bad posture
accounts for a lot of pain and discomfort.

  • Diet is major. A simple solution, eat to survive, don’t live to eat. Natural
whole foods are best, lots of nutritious fresh foods that are not
genetically modified. We are digestive enzyme deficient. Eat some live food
with every meal to help digest it. Stay away from McDonalds! Diet is like
drugs, hard to get off addictive foods. My advice is one day at a time. If
you drink those double double Tim Horton’s coffees, cut down 1/2 teaspoon of sugar a day or a week until you can go without it.

  • Don’t rely on caffeine to get you going, it is like sugar, a quick high to
an abrupt low. Get your body working on it’s own without relying on caffeine or red bull to get you going. If you are that bad, you need to take some R & R time. Get your adrenals checked.

  • If you live in the North and experience pain when it rains or snows, or
arthritis, try some heat and wish for sunshine and dry weather. They blamed
all my pain on Fibromyalgia when in fact a lot of it was from the weather.
My condition can change over night. I was always wondering what I did to
have so much more pain today than yesterday when in fact it wasn’t me, it
    was the weather.

  •  Vitamin D is our sunshine Vitamin, with out it we can become depressed, SAD and all research is pointing to cancers from lack of Vitamin D. When the sun shines, get outside and absorb 20 minutes of it.

  • Avoid conflict, stress only adds to injury. You need to have a healthy
relationship with the least amount of stress as possible. It isn’t healthy
for anyone. If you have conflict, avoid those people, if your job is too
stressful, seriously consider a change. Even a pay cut is worth it if you
make a change that removes the stress from your job or a psychopathic boss.

Be well!

Welcome to Natural Pain Relief For Fibromyalgia

I was just reading the side effect my fellow Fibromyalgia sufferers are getting from Cymbalta. It is bad enough to experience pain and suffering without answers but when the doctors add to injury by giving medications that cause illness it can lead to desperation. I know how painful it can be on it’s own but to experience more pain by the hands of your health care provider it can be overwhelming. You are desperate to find answers, instead you get more pain.

Here is a list of side effects the women are experiencing from the forum on healingwell.com:

– feeling funny

– my first week was nearly torture – severe nausea, headaches, tight throat, dizziness, insomnia, etc.

– I had a life threatening reaction from the first dose

– I had a friend who switched to nights because it made her drowsy, now she has trouble falling asleep

– no real change in pain yet but even if it wouldn’t make much difference in that area I think I would still keep taking them cause of the energy and buzz they give me

– my doctor today told me I must go off Cymbalta (gradually) because my BP is extremely high. My heart is beating very oddly, sort of like irregular swoshing. He did not like that my throat was still tight either.

I didn’t hear anyone say it did anything for their pain.

Here is the new criteria for Fibromyalgia:

Welcome to Natural
Pain Relief For Fibromyalgia

For some people who suffer with Fibromyalgia,
Injury, Chronic Pain or Arthritis the weather can mean a flare-up for them.
Humidity or rain or wet snow can mean major pain. I suffer major joint pain
and severe fatigue when it rains or there is high humidity. What can we do
about it?

For me, I find if I am eating a lot of sugar
or dairy I suffer with more pain. Diet goes a long way to helping arthritis.
My ANA dropped dramatically when I took gluten out of my diet. Flour can
cause inflammation as well as beef, dairy and many other foods. If you
suffer with arthritic conditions, you owe it to yourself to try eliminating
as many inflammatory foods as possible from your diet. Wouldn’t it be great
if you could just give up a food and your pain would be eliminated? It is,
believe me. A life without gluten and dairy went a long way to eliminating a
lot of pain for me. Once you are away from it you realize it doesn’t really
taste all that great anyways. I found a whole new world of food and tastes
that don’t hurt when I eat them. I also don’t have the greying hair or
wrinkles that those foods cause which is just an added bonus.

As far as the weather, we can’t do much but
be as comfortable as we can through it. Baths in Epson salts help, resting,
ice and healthy diet. Drinking lots of water is a must always, it keep you
hydrated and keeps your bowels moving.

As far as the fatigue, all you can do is rest
to get through it. Providing you have had your iron level and your adrenals
checked. I was told my fatigue was Fibromyalgia but it was my adrenal was
almost shut down, it makes you feel like something is sucking the life out
of you. The regular doctor didn’t worry or even test my adrenals. It was my
gynaecologist who diagnosed me and it has made a major difference in my

Make sure you do your stretches, what you can
do without too much pain but don’t skip them. If something hurts too much,
skip that one today but move on to the next one. Move around or go for a
walk so you don’t seize up completely. It will help you sleep better.

If you are so lucky to have a hot tub or can
go for a massage or chiropractor they can help you with your pain as well.
If your joints are warm, cool them off. If your cold and damp, warm your
body up.

There are a lot of suggestions, you just need
to find out what works for you. The biggest challenge is finding what is
causing the pain, eliminating and managing what you are living with.

I think the biggest thing with pain is getting to the bottom of it, finding out exactly why you have pain and what you can do about it. There are a lot of tips and tricks you can learn to deal with your pain and in some cases, eliminate it altogether.

If you don’t have any permanent damage due to injury, illness or birth defects, you owe it to yourself to get and keep your body as fit as you can on the outside and take care of the inside, your mind and emotions as well. If you do have permanent damage, injury or defect, getting to know what contributes to making your injury or pain flare and learning what will ease the pain.

Knowing that food can also be contributing to a wide variety of symptoms, internal pain, headaches, hyperactivity, brain fog, migraines, rashes, hives, digestive problems, liver, kidney and bowel problems, joint and muscle pain to mention a few. We all know alcohol as well as many drugs can cause liver and kidney damage.

We need to seriously consider the advice from some of our great forefathers:

Budda Year of Birth:  563 BC  Year of Death: 483 BC

To keep the body in good health is a duty… otherwise we shall not be able to keep our mind strong and clear.

The mind is everything. What you think you become.

Without health life is not life; it is only a state of languor and suffering – an image of death.

Pain can be caused by how we feel inside, our emotions, our feelings. Budda also said:

Holding on to anger is like grasping a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at someone else; you are the one who gets burned.

I  decided to go to a new doctor for yet another opinion on my widespread chronic pain that my doctor of 20 years labelled all pain as Fibromyalgia, even though I suffered a major fall and have been complaining of pain ever since. The back and neck pain was really interfering with standing, sitting, walking and sleep, just about everything I did in life. Pills made me feel ill and yet I was still in pain. The advice for neck pillows just wasn’t cutting it for the neck pain I suffered nor did the pain killers. I had these permanent hard knots in my neck and body all over. Life was hell and it wan’t getting better.

I have discovered so much since being sent to a chiropractor and specialists, yet the treatment comes down to the same things. Prescription drugs, anti-inflammatories, pain killers or injections! There were no answers, only band aids.

I got to the point that I felt like I was going to throw up all the time from years of pills, pain killers, anti-inflammatories and the many other prescriptions and needles they threw at me. From one side effect, rash, anaphylactic shock, body shutting down or one stomach ache after the other.

Personally I am starting to believe Fibromyalgia is a label for those complicated cases that take time to investigate. We are grouped together like cattle and experimented on with drug trials. Yes I said trial. We the people try the drugs, some report the side effects and see where it goes from there, how many people did it make sick, how many people died from it, etc.

I just couldn’t live that way anymore, from pill to pill and the thing is, I was still in chronic pain plus major side effects on top of it which only added more misery, confusion and disappointment. After 20 years of drug therapy, I have the same pain only now I know what my pain is, where and why I am feeling it, I am equipped with major knowledge and experience on how to deal with it without pain killers that are going to effect my organs. I did the cleanse and it showed the effects with the stones I passed, some were from prescription drugs.

My journey ended at the pain clinic in Toronto. I was kind of shocked with the results, it was needles of nerve block into my spine, a cocktail of steroids and anesthetics. I politely rejected their offer and said I would have to think about that.

Nerve block isn’t right for me. I have discovered I have a pelvis and a coccyx injury and “drugging” me isn’t the right answer. Pain killers and I just don’t work and let me tell you why.

I was like superwoman on pain killers, I couldn’t feel any pain so I kept going, didn’t sleep much either. Meanwhile I was constantly irritating the injuries causing the muscles to become so badly inflamed that I wouldn’t be able to use that part for days, sometimes weeks and I even remember not being able to use my shoulder for months at a time. It was like chronic tendinitis in my fingers, wrists, elbows, shoulders, knees, ankles and on and on. Micro trauma to what ever part I was over using because I couldn’t feel the warning signs of when to stop. Then it starts to interfere with your sleep which adds a new set of problems of aches and pains as well as concentration.

Once the pain killers wear off, you are in a bigger pain cycle. Just because you don’t feel the pain doesn’t mean you aren’t causing more damage or irritation. Quite the opposite, the drugs take away that pain for a while until it wears off. My point, where is the end to all this drug therapy? When your liver gives out? Next time the doctor asks you to take a prescription, ask “How long will I be on that?”

If you believe that your doctor is missing something, get another opinion. Keep going until you find someone who can help you get it all figured out. I refuse to settle for a diagnosis with no clear answers but only pills as a solution. To me it is like taking a shot in the dark hoping you find a needle in the haystack. Believe me, there are no magic bullets or quick fixes, so quit looking.

I haven’t been blogging much in the past couple of months and I do apologize for my lack of. I had to make some money from eBay to pay for this website. We are renovating and living under construction. I have been seeing a lot of doctors desperately seeking answers. I live in chronic pain and I try my best to do what I can. Sometimes I lose months at a time. I have many articles coming up and all for your knowledge and education.

Living inside a body that has chronic pain can be overwhelmingly devastating some days. I can totally understand how some people who cannot tolerate pain well could resort to suicide. I have an extremely high pain tolerance but some days it takes over the soul and you just feel like giving in.

You know what helps me? I feel sorry for myself, then I cry and then I get up, shake the dust off and get back on the horse. I listen to my favorite songs EXTREMELY LOUD! I dance my butt off and feel the music inside my soul and I forget the whole world for a few moments. So whether you are a rock and roller, a country dude or classical, why don’t you give it a try? You are in pain anyways right? What have you got to lose?

You know the saying “dance like no one is watching”.  Give it a try who cares if you don’t have the beat, no one can see. It always releases endorphins for me and makes me happy. It is sometimes the only way I can warm myself up too, my thyroid is sluggish. So anyone who has thyroid issues and gets really cold, this works great for that as well.

I think the secret to living with chronic pain is to keep your mind off the pain as much and as often as you can.

Find your triggers and abide by them. Keep a distant memory of how bad the pain can get and be determined that you will not let yourself get that way again. If a certain activity causes you extreme pain, don’t do it anymore or find a different way to do it that won’t cause pain.

Find what works and stick to it!

Find someone who can be support for you. I don’t mean just any support but someone who can lift you up and help you put a smile back on your face! Negativity can make things worse for you, try to avoid it at all costs.

Keep on truckin’! Write all your problems in this blog if it helps, it’s all yours. What ever works, keep it up. What ever makes it worse, avoid!

I have lots of article, check out the website. I have been behind in my blogging because I have had to catch up on inside and outside work and that means more back and neck pain for me. I promise to catch up on all the topic my commenters have asked for.

Celiac disease is an autoimmune disease characterized as an immune response to wheat, rye, barley (gluten and gliadin).

– leads to inflammation to the small intestine and damage and destruction to the villi

It isn’t taken seriously enough, it can be detrimental to one’s health and well being. I suffer in so many ways when I eat gluten, I feel it in my bones, I get numb, creeping pain in my feet and hands (diagnosed as carpal tunnel and neuropathy), I cannot digest it, abdominal pain and distension, intestinal pain, bone and joint pain, headaches and migraines, mucous throughout my body (stool, eyes, throat), sores in my mouth and anemia. It is nasty, I get thinner, paler and weaker. I think a lot of our older population is gluten intolerant but are being treated for neuropathy, arthritis or digestive issues instead of eliminating the wheat. What a shame, life is amazingly different without wheat for me, if you suspect it, give it a try, just eliminate it and see how you feel. Wheat takes months to get out of your system though and if you have been off of gluten for over 5 or 6 months, the test won’t show you are celiac. You have to have it in your system to show up on tests. I have been off of it for 21 years and a doctor just tested me for it and said I wasn’t celiac. Here is what I found:

If the person being tested has not consumed any gluten for several weeks prior to testing, then celiac disease tests may be negative (although this may require many months of gluten-free diet). If the doctor still suspects celiac disease, she may do a gluten challenge – have the patient introduce gluten into his diet for several weeks or months to see if the symptoms return. At that time, celiac tests may be repeated or a biopsy may be done to check for villous atrophy (damage to the villi in the intestine).

I am not putting myself through all that pain, anemia and joint and muscle pain again to see if I have what I know I have. It makes me sick so I don’t eat it. Perhaps a lot of arthritis people have isn’t really arthritis but rather an undiagnosed gluten reaction. I know when I took out the final hidden gluten out of my diet, the nerve pain disappeared. Honestly, I think we eat way too much white flour, what nutrition is in it? Empty calories.

I will be writing a lot more on this topic……will continue……….

Ontario researchers have found a simple cure for cancer, yet major pharmaceutical companies are not interested because they cannot patent and make profit from it.

Canadian scientists tested this dichloroacetate (DCA) on human’s cells; it killed lung, breast and brain cancer cells and left the healthy cells alone. It is currently used to treat metabolic disorders, so, there is no concern of side effects or about their long term effects.

So why is it we are allowing people to die from cancer when we could be saving them? Today is my Mother’s birthday, she died of breast cancer  June 2nd, 2004. She was only 67 years young! What a waste of talent and to think, it is because a pharmaceutical company couldn’t make profit from all that chemo drugs, pain killers, morphine, pills, pills, and more pills she was on. She was drugged up beyond reality, she lost her hair, she lost her well being, her lust for life, she lost all functioning, ability to walk and at the end even to eat or talk, then she lost her life. Tell me, all that so someone can drive a Mercedes or two? If we could only value human life the way we did money, possessions and power!

Albert Einstein

Any intelligent fool can make things bigger and more complex… It takes a touch of genius – and a lot of courage to move in the opposite direction.

Here are the websites, read all the details here:

The University of Alberta Discovery
March 15, 2007

Dr. Evangelos Michelakis, a professor at the U of A Department of Medicine, has shown that dichloroacetate (DCA) causes regression in several cancers, including lung, breast, and brain tumors.

Until recently, researchers believed that cancer-affected mitochondria are permanently damaged and that this damage is the result, not the cause, of the cancer. But Michelakis, a cardiologist, questioned this belief and began testing DCA, which activates a critical mitochondrial enzyme, as a way to “revive” cancer-affected mitochondria.

The results astounded him.

Michelakis and his colleagues found that:

DCA normalized the mitochondrial function in many cancers, showing that their function was actively suppressed by the cancer but was not permanently damaged by it.

the normalization of mitochondrial function resulted in a significant decrease in tumor growth both in test tubes and in animal models.

DCA, unlike most currently used chemo therapies, did not have any effects on normal, non-cancerous tissues.

“I think DCA can be selective for cancer because it attacks a fundamental process in cancer development that is unique to cancer cells,” Michelakis said. “One of the really exciting things about this compound is that it might be able to treat many different forms of cancer”.

Another encouraging thing about DCA is that, being so small, it is easily absorbed in the body, and, after oral intake, it can reach areas in the body that other drugs cannot, making it possible to treat brain cancers, for example.

Scientists cure cancer, but no one takes notice

It is a simple technique using very basic drug. The method employs dichloroacetate, which is currently used to treat metabolic disorders. So, there is no concern of side effects or about their long term effects.

This drug doesn’t require a patent, so anyone can employ it widely and cheaply compared to the costly cancer drugs produced by major pharmaceutical companies.

American College of Rheumatology & National Fibromyalgia Association have a list of treatments used for Fibromyalgia today. How they can treat something they know so little about with such serious drugs is my question. I think we work harder on finding drugs to maintain our illness that working on finding the reason the body is in pain. Most drugs have proven ineffective so far and they are finding that .

First to be approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration:

– pregabalin – Lyrica  see article http://naturalpainreliefforfibromyalgia.com/452

– duloxetine Cymbalta see article http://naturalpainreliefforfibromyalgia.com/554

Third was

– milnacipran Savella

Other FM medications are currently in development, and may soon receive FDA approval to treat fibromyalgia.

– non-narcotic pain relievers (e.g. tramadol)

– low doses of antidepressants

– tricyclic antidepressants

– serotonin reuptake inhibitors

– benzodiazepines

– Lidocaine injections into the patient’s tender points also work well on localized areas of pain

– a regular program of gentle exercise and stretching, which helps maintain muscle tone and reduces pain and stiffness

– going to bed and getting up at the same time every day

– making sure that the sleeping environment is conducive to sleep (i.e. quiet, free from distractions, a comfortable room temperature, a supportive bed)

– avoiding caffeine, sugar, and alcohol before bed

– doing some type of light exercise during the day

– avoiding eating immediately before bedtime

– practicing relaxation exercises as you fall to sleep. When necessary, there are new sleep medications that can be prescribed, some of which can be especially helpful if the patient’s sleep is disturbed by restless legs or periodic limb movement disorder

– develop a program that provides emotional support and increases communication with family and friends

– many communities throughout the United States and abroad have organized fibromyalgia support groups. These groups often provide important information and have guest speakers who discuss subjects of particular interest to the FMComplementary therapies can be very beneficial. These include:

– physical therapy

– therapeutic massage

– myofascial release therapy

– water therapy

– light aerobics

– acupressure

– application of heat or cold

– yoga

– relaxation exercises

– breathing techniques

– aromatherapy

– cognitive therapy

– biofeedback

– herbs

– nutritional supplements

– osteopathic or chiropractic manipulation.
