Welcome to Natural Pain Relief For Fibromyalgia

Chronic Pain Relief

There is so much advice out there about chronic pain but what really works?

Sufferers are so mislead by the media because there is such a big profit opportunity from people who are desperate to end their pain.

– Drug companies advertise on tv that their pill is the secret to living a great life as they list off their side effects that take up half the commercial time.

– Tylenol companies advertise that their pain pills “get you back to normal”.

Is that what the world has come to? We are normal if we are drugged up on prescription medications and pain meds?

We are so desperate to find relief we try this and that only to find that it isn’t
really working.

We have to put up with side effects such as:

– weight gain, head aches, stomach pain, swelling, constipation, diarrhea, decreased sexual desire or ability, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth, increased sweating, loss of appetite, increased appetite, sore throat, tiredness, trouble sleeping, vomiting, weakness.

Then there are the more severe symptoms of:

– severe allergic reactions such as  rash, hives, itching, difficulty breathing,
tightness in the chest, swelling of the mouth, face, lips or tongue, unusual
hoarseness, bizarre behaviour, bloody or black tarry stools, blurred vision,
confusion, dark urine, decreased concentration, decreased coordination,
fainting, fast or irregular heartbeat, fever or chills, hallucinations, memory
loss, mouth sores or ulcers, new or worsening mental or mood changes eg.
aggressiveness, agitation, anxiety, depression, hostility, impulsiveness,
irritability, panic attacks, restlessness, pale stools, red swollen, blistered
or peeling skin, ringing in the ears, seizures, severe or persistent dizziness
or headaches, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, tiredness, weakness, trouble sleeping, sluggishness, stiff muscles, stomach pain, suicidal thoughts or attempts, tremors, trouble urinating, unusual bruising or bleeding, unusual weakness, vomitting that looks like coffee grounds, yellowing of the skin or eyes.

Then we have the unfortunate who experience

– heart attacks, strokes, kidney damage, liver damage, successful suicides, anaphylaxis shock and even death.

That is quite a list isn’t it? And all from these drugs that are going to help with your pain and change your life as you know it. Helping you with your pain. That list came mostly from the Cymbalta side effects list, one of the drugs of choice for Fibromyalgia.

I looked to the medical system for years and I experienced a long list of the above and a near death situation. If I didn’t have such a big will to live I wouldn’t be here. Well believe me, if you keep taking pills year after year you WILL develop stomach problems along with a wide array of new symptoms. It seems like you keep adding illnesses to your list of conditions and they keep adding pills for the symptoms which mostly come from the pills. It is like a domino effect that keeps you falling the wrong way, into a chronic pain syndrome instead of out of pain, you become weakened and more dependant on everyone.

There is another way and I am finding my way out of the deep dark hole of our current medical system that didn’t work for me. It was weakening my body to a point that I didn’t find much reason for living. Nothing worked, pills had me to a point that I couldn’t eat anything because it caused so much internal pain, I couldn’t sleep, I couldn’t wake up, I was in a permanent brain fog and on and on. There was only one way to describe it, MISERY. I went for help and ended up getting more symptoms, more pain, more disbelief from sceptic doctors, more frustration and a lot of pills.

Now today is different. I am still in pain but I have learned how to deal with my it on such a positive level. My stomach is so much better, I have less symptoms, I can sleep better, the brain fog is gone, I know my triggers, I know how to deal with each symptom, I know when and what contributes to my pain and I feel alive instead of near death. That alone is worth it’s weight and gold. Before I dreaded living the rest of my life in the state I was in, now I feel there is a light and I am looking forward to being pain free one day. I look forward to having grandchildren one day and being able to be with them instead of them sitting in my wheelchair with me or lying in my death bed.

If you want to learn to live your life with your pain opposed to suffering your life away with pain, I invite you to sign up for my newsletter and follow my path to wellness. I want to help you help yourself out of a very hard life of the
chronic pain cycle. The answer isn’t in a pill bottle but in a wide array of
solutions. I can help!

Welcome to Natural Pain Relief For Fibromyalgia

I was just reading the side effect my fellow Fibromyalgia sufferers are getting from Cymbalta. It is bad enough to experience pain and suffering without answers but when the doctors add to injury by giving medications that cause illness it can lead to desperation. I know how painful it can be on it’s own but to experience more pain by the hands of your health care provider it can be overwhelming. You are desperate to find answers, instead you get more pain.

Here is a list of side effects the women are experiencing from the forum on healingwell.com:

– feeling funny

– my first week was nearly torture – severe nausea, headaches, tight throat, dizziness, insomnia, etc.

– I had a life threatening reaction from the first dose

– I had a friend who switched to nights because it made her drowsy, now she has trouble falling asleep

– no real change in pain yet but even if it wouldn’t make much difference in that area I think I would still keep taking them cause of the energy and buzz they give me

– my doctor today told me I must go off Cymbalta (gradually) because my BP is extremely high. My heart is beating very oddly, sort of like irregular swoshing. He did not like that my throat was still tight either.

I didn’t hear anyone say it did anything for their pain.

Here is the new criteria for Fibromyalgia:

I’ve had a severe pain in my upper right abdomen in the front and back that lead into my lower abdomen for months (could be years), the doctors keep saying it is Fibromyalgia and I just need to exercise. The more I did the exercises, the more pain I had in those areas, it seemed internal to me.

I was getting out of the shower because I was having trouble breathing and the pain in my abdomen was so bad. I thought maybe I had to go to the bathroom, when I sat, it felt like I was going to throw up, so I changed position, then had to hit the floor because I felt like I was going to pass out.

There I lay unable to move for a half hour or more because of the pain and nausea. I just kept saying breathe Jen, breathe. When I finally got up, I was so white, almost yellow in color and I could barely stand from the pain. This was my second attack so I went to the Doctor.

He thought it was a bladder infection and gave me an antibiotic. He said it also could have been a kidney stone or appendicitis, because it was also in that area. If it happens again, go to the hospital.

The meds helped the severe pain subside for a while but it didn’t take it away. I also experienced terrible headaches and ill stomach from the antibiotics. He sent me for blood tests and an ultrasound which was scheduled weeks later. The results came back that my gall bladder and kidneys were fine. So why did I still have the pain?

The pain was still radiating in my back, right side, kidney area down into my lower abdomen, under my ribs in the liver area and into the lower abdomen, across to the left side.

Have you every experienced that desperate feeling that you know something is wrong yet they keep telling you that you are fine? Or they don’t give you an answer at all?

I took it upon myself to start a cleanse because each attack was getting worse and I wasn’t looking forward to the next one. Most all experts advise to do a colon cleanse before you do a gallbladder, kidney or liver cleanse and that is what I did.

I started the cleanse a week ago Friday and OMG (Oh my god)!! I passed thousands of tiny stones, have a look at the pictures below. They are tiny little pebbles so I took some pictures and blew them up. It looks like the stones that washed up on the beach. What a variety from all shades of brown, black, green, pink, yellow, white, tan, orange and calcified:

If you would like to cleanse your body of a lot of god only knows what, Coloson worked for me. It is a very reasonable price at the link below, only $19.99. I have tried other cleanses but haven’t had success like this one and they were very costly.

You need 5 to stay close to the toilet though as it is a powerful cleanse. I did the quick 6 pills, 3 times a day cleanse but you could spread it out so it was gentler.

***You should check with you doctor first to see if it is okay to do a colon cleanse and that you have no blockages in your colon or intestines (although I am pretty sure it would clear that problem quickly : )).These statements have not been evaluated by the FDA. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease.

Some doctors don’t believe in cleanses, especially the doctors from the old school, so I would make your own choice if you have pain that they can’t give you an answer for. I am not a doctor or a nurse, I am just someone in pain, sharing my experiences that work for me. The desperation of being in chronic pain and getting no answers from the medical establishment has turned me to find my own cure. I am on my journey to wellness.

The pain in my right side in the back and lower right abdomen has eased off. I still have pain under my ribs. I have completed the colon cleanse today and am going on to the liver cleanse in a few days to let my body recover a bit and replenish it with wholesome foods and vital nutrients. I can hardly wait to see the results of the liver cleanse if the colon cleanse was that successful and I will be moving on to the kidney and gallbladder cleanse too. I passed thousands and thousands of stones several times a day for over a week, even days after the pills were done.

I did some research on stones. It looks like I have quite a variety of Calcium Dihydrate (orange), Calcium Oxalate Monohydrate (brown), Uric Acid (dark), Calcium Oxalate (brown calcified), the brown and yellow chard are gallbladder stones and the green stones are liver stones.

Quite a variety for a person who is healthy and just needs to exercise! I have had chronic pain in my joints, muscles and organs for 20 years. I have always kept active and am extremely fit so I find it quite insulting when I am told I just need to exercise. Just another case of me being misdiagnosed again. I was even told once, oh, you are just getting old.

Old actually doesn’t mean that you are sentenced to a life of chronic pain. You should be vital, pain free and have your well being into a ripe old age. Don’t get sucked into the belief that because you are aging, you have to live off of a pile of pills and suffer chronic pain. It doesn’t have to be that way and I am determined to keep going until I am pain free.

I am not waiting for the medicine man to remove my gallbladder because it is so full of stones or until it destroys my pancreas like it did my husbands. They let him go so long with pain and nausea that his gallbladder damaged his pancreas. He ended up with Pancreatitis and almost died.

The makers say there is no urgency with Colosan but I did find urgency, perhaps because I am chronically ill or it could have to do with being Celiac or lactose intolerant or having the kidney stones, who knows? Looking at the stones now, I am starting to see why I have so many symptoms and pain.

You can actually hear and feel it oxygenate inside you with gurgling as it travels though purging your intestines and colon and when it gets down to the lower part of your body, don’t wait, the urgency is you have to be by the toilet because it is coming now! It liquefies the contents so it is like peeing through your butt. Sorry, I don’t know how else to describe it but how it really is. : ) There is no pain though, it is very gentle and it’s not at all like that severe diarrhea that gives you that sick feeling in your stomach.

Have a look at these websites with all the kidney, liver and gallbladder stones, it is quite fascinating. Check out the 6 pages of stones on the first website below. :

What the heck are those stones made out of and what do they mean to me?

I was searching the stone Calcium Dihydrate and came across this disease from Merck manuals – Calcium Pyrophosphate Dihydrate Crystal Deposition Disease which sounds to me like a fancy name for the crystals  I was searching landing in the body causing pain. It is described as intermittent attacks of acute arthritis and a degenerative arthropathy.  Diagnosed by CDDP crystals in the synovial fluid.

Here is the cleanse I did:

Colosan

Of course, Colosan is best taken in conjunction with colon hydrotherapy, yet it is also GREAT on its own for people who REFUSE to do colon hydrotherapy. Colosan works mainly inside the small intestine, which we can’t get to with colon hydrotherapy. The acton of the oxygen helps balance fermentation & yeasts. The quick liquifying effects of old impacted matter often create energy shifts & reduction in bloating. If people do the initial suggested 5-day intensive use of Colosan, it frequently encourages them to keep going. Colosan is great too for travelling & jetlag. It’s also great to use instead of epsom salts for liver flushing. Additionally, it is good for kids & pregnancy.

To sum it up: Colosan is gentle but very effective.

Oxygen for Superior Colon Hygiene

There are common goals to healthful living.

One primary goal is proper colon hygiene. The cleansing of the digestive tract is a logical place from which to embark on a healthful regimen. Ask any contractor- you have to clean up before you repair and rebuild. The same concept applies to well being and rejuvenation.

Eliminate built up toxins before you provide the body with what it needs to restore well being.

There is no better way to clean the colon than with oxygen since digestion is known to be a process of oxidation. By introducing oxygen into the intestines and the colon, one can assist the process of complete digestion as well as oxidizing undigested material.

Colosan for Proper Colon Hygiene

Digestion & Oxidation

The average person is walking around with anywhere from six to twelve pounds of undigested material fermenting in their intestines and colon. Digestion is a process of oxidation. That is why we give off heat, carbon dioxide and sulfur dioxide. Just like a car engine when there is improper oxidation some of the fuel gets left behind as a residue. In the digestive tract, there is a similar build up of partially digested gunk. In an automobile when you add oxygen to the fuel mixture the built up materials are burned off or oxidized. You can do the same for your body. As these materials accumulate and subsequently begin to rot, your body wraps them in mucous to keep them from poisoning you.

Colosan turns the accumulation and the mucous into carbon dioxide and water that are gently eliminated. It is unimaginable to think of going one week without the use of a toothbrush or toilette tissue. Yet, when was the last time you thought about cleaning the twenty feet in between? Do you think it’s any cleaner? It’s a simple fact, people rarely clean where they cannot see and that is where problems begin.

Somewhere to Hide

Your impacted material is home base to four of the most dangerous threats to your health. Number one, it is where toxins accumulate. For example when you are behind a bus in traffic, the exhaust gets in your saliva and sinus, then you swallow and that chemical soup is absorbed into the impacted material and eventually leaches toxins into your blood stream. Second, it is where virus’ and bacteria hide when your immune system chases them out of your bloodstream. There they breed and re-infect. Third, the impacted material is a fecal fortress for parasites to reside in and an ideal garden for the overgrowth of undesirable flora such as Candida. By using Colosan to oxidize and eliminate this impacted material, you are eradicating the home base to four of the largest assailants to your health and giving them nowhere to hide.

Assimilation and Elimination

Colosan is also vital to the operation of two very important gut functions – assimilation and elimination. The colon is approximately three to five feet long. The walls of it are reasonably smooth and it is primarily an organ of elimination. If the colon is clogged with mucous and undigested material, the function of elimination is impeded.

Many practitioners recommend health regimens that involve the detoxification of the liver, kidneys, the bloodstream, and the lymph. However, if the colon is not cleaned first, these systems have nowhere to empty to and back up. This creates a feeling of malaise known as a detox reaction, or healing crisis. These episodes are unpleasant and can be completely avoided by using Colosan prior to any detox regimen. By cleaning out the colon with Colosan first, it enables the detoxification regimen to proceed without impediment and, in fact, can be pursued more aggressively and to better effect. The intestines are approximately twenty feet long. Nature designed them with a maximum amount of surface area for absorption. The inside of the intestines consists of villi. These are hundreds of finger-like projections making the internal texture of the intestines much like a shag rug. When the villi get pasted down with mucous and impacted material they are less able to absorb nutrients from food or get maximum benefits from your supplementation. Instead, you are reabsorbing toxins from the impacted material as it ferments. By cleaning out the intestines, shampooing that shag rug as it were, you enable yourself to get the maximum benefit out of the food that you eat and the supplements that you take. It is also a wonderful way to reduce bloat and relieve that lousy tired feeling one gets from absorbing poisons into the bloodstream through the intestines instead of nutrients.

Common Use

Take 6 capsules with a twelve ounce glass of water–three times daily for five days for an initial cleanse. Colosan Capsules should be consumed on an empty stomach at least an hour before eating. Take six capsules weekly for maintenance. One or two can be taken as a stool softener. Colosan releases a tremendous amount of oxygen and ozone in the intestines and colon for the purpose of cleansing. It is important to take Colosan on an empty stomach and wait an hour before eating anything else. There are three times a day when most people find that they have an empty stomach and will not be consuming anything for an hour. These are first thing in the morning, around five o’clock in the afternoon and right before bed.

Proper Colon Hygiene

Colosan is widely regarded by Practitioners as the most thorough, gentle cleanse that utilizes and complements the body’s natural process of oxidative digestion. It is preferred to herbal micro toxins and amphetamines which purge the body of valuable water. It is also preferable to fiber as in psyillium, bentonite clay, and granular activated carbon which all attempt to scrape or leach the impaction out rather than oxidize it as Colosan does. It is a good idea to stick with tradition as for centuries man has been using oxygen for digestion and clay and fiber to make bricks.

Colosan is a thorough cleanser. That means it will help you to empty undesired materials from your intestines and your colon once they are reduced into carbon dioxide and water. One can expect copious, aqueous stools but should not experience gas as all reactions take place in solution. This is to be distinguished from diarrhea where by diuretic action or microbial invasion the body purges itself of valuable fluids and there is a sense of urgency. With Colosan, you will have no sense of urgency – one more reason why it is the colon hygiene product of choice. In fact, Colosan is used by many colon hydrotherapists as an adjunct to their colon irrigations or colonics, because it allows them to clean the intestines as well as the colon. With proper colon hygiene health, vitality and longevity can begin in the colon. Take your Colosan Today.

I was checking out the FDA website for something and I came across an article about the new drugs recently approved.

    Lupron44

    Eligard43

    Lupron Depot45

    Lupron Depot46

    Viadur50

They were all approved on January 20, 2011. They are all made out of leuprolide acetate the same drug Lupron Depot that shut my body down in 2000, now they are bringing it out under different names. (see information on Lupron below).

I was looking through some old paperwork and came across a letter I had written about my experience with the prescription drug Lupron, leuprolide acetate. Here is my story I wrote just after taking Lupron in 2000, thank god we forget pain:

On January 2000, I went to my gynecologist. He diagnosed me with a cyst on my ovary. He said that the drug Lupron would shrink the cyst and I could avoid surgery. I asked about the side effects, he said it was only hot flashes and temporary menopause, but all goes away after the drug is done. He made it sound like a picnic. I thought that the drug was the way to go, sounded like no big deal and to avoid an operation again, why not? (I had my ovary removed surgically when I was 18 due to a cyst).

He gave me a 3 month dose Jan 13, 2000 or 11.25 mg of Lupron Depot in an injection form. Approximately 4 or 5 days later my skin started to crawl throughout my whole body, permanently day after day, creeping through my skin like waves of bugs crawling. I began to have trouble breathing, and was unable to get moving. I went to two different doctors,  was given a prescription by one, told to quit smoking by another. I did both but neither seemed to help.

We had went out to dinner one night because we had pre-arranged it with friends (yes that’s me, didn’t want to wreck anybodies plans even though I was in anaphylactic shock, I am a pretty tough soul!). While I was sitting there all of a sudden it felt like bubbles of liquid going into each of my lower front ribs, one at a time like dominos, then it crept it’s way up throughout my ribs in my whole chest and stayed as severe pain. My chest was crushing with chest pain, and I was having trouble breathing. I felt drained and sick all over and very pale. I laid on the couch for days, not being able to do anything and the pain was only getting worse.

I finally went to the hospital because I knew it was serious and out of my hands. They put me on a heart monitor and admitted me right away. My heart was either beating at 41 bpm. or erratically all over the place. All they could do was fill me with pain medications and anti-inflammatories.  The hot sweats were starting; actually it was more total body sweats yet I was freezing cold. My kidneys were working overtime.

Upon the first discharge from the hospital I got dizzy and fell onto the floor so they kept me another night. They diagnosed muscle-skeletal pain and heart problems due to the Lupron. Day by day different symptoms arrived, that was only the beginning of months of hell that followed for me.

When I stood up my skin felt so heavy it felt like it was falling off my body.

I had muscle-skeletal pain throughout my whole body, esp. the rib and breast bones.

    Dyspnea, difficulty breathing.

Body sweats and chills, ghostly-white complexion.

Shrieking skull pain, migraine on right side of head.

I had huge cramps throughout my legs, pain in lower, outside, right leg.

Breast pain, loss of sexual desire (well who could think about sex with all this going on???)

    Cold body, temperature 93.3 F

Low heart rate or racing heart.

Stomach swelled up, dehydrated, excessive thirst.

    Throat swelled, feeling of choking.

Bowels quit working, kidneys working overtime.

    Numb cheeks and limbs.

Visual disturbances, right eye teared constantly.

    Nausea, dizziness, shakes.

    Spinal tremors, irritability, nervousness.

    Sore teeth, left jaw pain.

    Cardiac arrhythmia, palpitations.

    Insomnia.

    Lower back pain.

Intensified rash and swollen lymph nodes.

Every evening at 8 pm my throat would swell and I could actually feel the serum pump out of my throat down into my chest, then throughout my body. The chest and breast pain would increase, my heart would start pumping wildly, my stomach would ache, cramping would increase, body sweats, cold body, and total exhaustion would set in.

I had to spray my entire mid section with muscle pain spray for weeks on end because the drugs didn’t even touch the pain. The horror went on day after day after week after week which turned into months. My Lupus and Fibromyalgia were flaring big time by now. I was gray in color and totally lifeless and I felt like I was going to die. It was the darkest time of my life.

After calling the Doctor who prescribed the Lupron to me, he sent me away saying, go see a cardiologist, there is no way Lupron would do that. It took over 3 months for the drug to quit the “flare effects: and 169 days to be eliminated (supposedly, according to science! I think it is still in my ribs as I have severe rib pain to this day), many natural remedies and 6 months for menstruation to return. Now all that was left was the damage. I also broke two teeth on Lupron.

No one had an antidote to stop this drug from terrorizing my body, so I took my dying body to a Naturopathic Doctor. She put me on some homeopathic medicines and herbals right away and miraculously she took that overwhelming feeling of death away. She said I was grey in color when I came in and that was almost 2 months after the shock set in.

I got my internal orans tested from electro dermal screening and they showed severe stress on all my internal organs, especially the heart, gallbladder, lymphatics, kidneys, bladder, thyroid, liver, adrenals and central nervous system. This was a direct result from the Lupron.

It totally devastated me and my family. Never again! I am going to continue to see a Naturopathic Doctor. She took away the numbness in my cheeks, the swelling in my hands, the shrieking skull pain, the dizziness, the total exhaustion, the rash is clearing up, I have some colour back and some energy.

I still have a long way to go but she helped me out of the severe stress that Lupron put me in. I have seen enough improvement to convince me, Naturopathic medicine is the only way out of a major adverse drug reaction or perhaps any major health crisis. I know who’s hands I feel safe in now.

Isn’t it amazing that they are so willing to pay $1188.00 (times two as it was only half the prescription, I opted out for round 2!)

God, I forgot how ill it made me. I am not a doctor, or a lawyer and this drug is approved by the FDA but not in my lifetime would I recommend it to any human. I actually would warn anyone not to use Lupron, but that is just my opinion through a very bad experience! It’s your body!

This was approved years ago by TAP, they had multi million dollar fines from it, so I suspect these are new companies that want to get in on the sales with this drug too. I think we will be hearing more people being prescribed this drug again. How can the FDA approve

I also would like to note that the cyst was still there after all was said and done. It was the herbals that took the cysts away. Now I believe that I could have avoided surgery when I was 18 as well.

I get the willies through my body when I see or hear the name Lupron. I will write this article but I won’t be reading it again, I just wanted other to know that you could experience side effects. When I was part of the Lupron victims website (10,000+ victims), there was a few deaths as well as heart attacks and stokes beside the multi symptoms and serious organ involvement from thousands of women as well as men. It is a drug given to men for prostrate cancer as well so you might want to check it out too guys. See http://www.lupronvictimshub.com/deaths.html for a long list of male deaths after taking Lupron.

Despite these many risks and negative experiences, manufacturers of leuprolide acetate have continued to market the drug for existing and new uses — most notably, as a treatment for prostate cancer. But a former U.S. Food and Drug Administration medical officer has said that Lupron’s manufacturer, TAP Pharmaceuticals, did not study the drug adequately before or after introducing it to the market, and he alleged that the company hid what it knew about risks of bone density loss, generalized pain, headaches, fluid retention, depression, and immune and nervous system problems, including spinal fracture, convulsions and paralysis.

I did some research on Tylenol, the most widely used pain killer. I found some interesting facts and something that could perhaps save someones life if they try to commit suicide with the pain killer Tylenol or Acetaminophen or Paracetamol. Overdose may result in severe or possibly fatal liver damage.

What I didn’t know is that there is an antidote that could perhaps save that someone’s life. Many suicide attempts are made with Tylenol and unfortunately they sometimes awaken but later die from liver toxicity. Even more interesting, the reasons for this poisoning are to do with the process by which paracetamol is eliminated from the body. It is first metabolized to a quinone imine. This compound is extremely toxic, and like other such compounds is eliminated in the liver by reaction with a tripeptide, glutathione. If insufficient glutathione is available, the toxic quinone will not be eliminated and begins to react with cellular proteins and nucleic acids in the liver, eventually causing irreparable damage. The two compounds, Methionine and N-acetylcysteine can boost levels of the vial glutathione in the liver, and so can be used as antidote for paracetamol (tylenol) poisoning, if the overdose if discovered in time. Article below.

Here are the ingredients from the tylenol website. See bottom of article, I have listed the meaning of the non-medical ingredients to see what the heck they are and what they mean to our health as well:

    http://www.tylenol.ca/products/adult/body-aches-pains/muscle-aches-body-pain/tylenol-muscle-aches-body-pain?gclid=CIDB6NbOsqYCFQO8KgodvQmzoQ

    Medicinal Ingredient: Acetaminophen, 650 mg

Non-Medicinal Ingredients (alphabetical): carnauba wax, cellulose, corn starch, FD&C red no. 40, hydroxyethylcellulose, hypromellose, magnesium stearate, povidone, sodium starch glycolate, triacetin.

So just what is Acetaminophen? Here is what I found:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paracetamol

    Paracetamol or acetaminophen

While generally safe in Recommended doses – 1,000.00 mg per single dose and up to 4,000 mg per day for adults/up to 2,0000 mg if consuming alcohol.

Acute overdose can cause fatal liver damage and in rare individuals a normal dose can do the same. * Risk is heightened by alcohol consumption.

*** PARACETAMOL TOXICITY IS THE FOREMOST CAUSE OF ACUTE LIVER FAILURE IN THE WESTERN WORLD AND ACCOUNTS FOR DRUG OVERDOSES IN THE UNITED STATES, THE UNITED KINGDOM, AUSTRALIA AND NEW ZEALAND!!!!!

Now we can see how serious this little pill really is. Did you notice that the single recommended dose is 1,000 grams, yet their pill contains 650 grams, so you are overdosing each time you take two tylenol together, interesting.

So back to the makers website, I really had to look to find the side effects, they are hidden under the products tab, under the caution tab:

    Caution

Keep out of the reach of children. This package contains enough drug to seriously harm a child. Do not use with other drugs containing acetaminophen. Do not take more than the maximum daily dose. Overdose may result in severe or possibly fatal liver damage. Do not take if allergic to acetaminophen. Consult a doctor if: Your symptoms last for more than 5 days; You develop allergic reactions such as wheezing, rash or itching. Ask a doctor or pharmacist before use if you: Are pregnant or breastfeeding; Have chronic alcoholism; Have a serious liver or kidney disease; Use any other medications including natural health products, prescription drugs, salicylates or other pain and fever relief medications. In case of overdose, call a Poison Control Centre or doctor immediately, even if you do not notice any possible signs or symptoms such as increased sweating, nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, and loss of appetite. Use only as directed by a doctor.

There you have it from the Tylenol makers. So I did some further research on Paracetamol. When it is mixed with codeine, it becomes Tylenol. See below. :

    http://www.ch.ic.ac.uk/rzepa/mim/drugs/html/paracet_text.htm

    Paracetamol (Acetaminophen)

    A Chance Discovery

The painkilling properties of paracetamol were discovered by accident when a similar molecule (acetanilide) was added to a patient’s prescription about 100 years ago. But since acetanilide is toxic in moderate doses, chemists modified its structure to try and find a compound that was less harmful but which still retained the analgesic properties. One of these compounds is N-acetyl-para-aminophenol, which is also known as acetaminophen in the US and paracetamol (from para-acetyl-amino-phenol) in the UK. When mixed with codeine it goes by the tradename Tylenol.

    Acetanilide Paracetamol Aniline

In fact, in the body, the original compound, acetanilide is partially converted into a mixture of paracetamol and aniline. The paracetamol provides the painkilling properties, but the aniline is toxic. Paracetamol has a very similar structure to aspirin, and because of this they are recognised by the same enzyme. This enzyme is responsible for the biosynthesis of prostoglandins, which are involved in the dilation of blood vessels that causes the pain experienced in a headache. Reduction of the amount of prostoglandin, therefore, helps prevent headaches and other pain.

    How it’s made

Paracetamol is one of the most common drugs used in the world, and is manufactured in huge quantities. The starting material for the commercial manufacture of paracetamol is phenol, which is nitrated to give a mixture of the ortho and para-nitrotoluene. The o-isomer is removed by steam distillation, and the p-nitro group reduced to a p-amino group. This is then acetylated to give paracetamol.

    Paracetamol as Poison

Because paracetamol is a potent drug that is available without prescription, it is often used in suicide attempts, and in this respect it is potentially more dangerous than other over-the-counter drugs such as aspirin. This is because paracetamol overdoses often cause liver failure, and there have been many cases where attempted suicides have awakened from an overdose and changed their minds, yet still died a few days later from liver damage.

The reasons for this poisoning are to do with the process by which paracetamol is eliminated from the body. It is first metabolised to a quinone imine:

This compound is extremely toxic, and like other such compounds is eliminated in the liver by reaction with a tripeptide, glutathione. If insufficient glutathione is available, the toxic quinone will not be eliminated and begins to react with cellular proteins and nucleic acids in the liver, eventually causing irreparable damage.

However, two compounds, methionine and N-acetylcysteine can boost levels of the vital glutathione in the liver, and so can be used as antidotes for paracetamol poisoning if the overdose is discovered in time. A new formulation of paracetamol is now being marketed in the UK which incorporates methianine, such that the drug carries its own antidote with it!

Here are the non-medical ingredients from Tylenol’s website and their meaning from dictionary.com:

Non-Medicinal Ingredients (alphabetical): carnauba wax, cellulose, corn starch, FD&C red no. 40, hydroxyethylcellulose, hypromellose, magnesium stearate, povidone, sodium starch glycolate, triacetin.

    .

    carnauba wax car·nau·ba

    2. Also called carnauba wax . the hard, lustrous wax obtained from the leaves of this tree, used as a polish or floor wax

    cellulose

    cel·lu·lose

    –noun

an inert carbohydrate, (C 6 H 10 O 5 ) n ,  the chief constituent of the cell walls of plants and of wood, cotton, hemp, paper, etc.

    corn starch corn·starch

    –noun

a starch or a starchy flour made from corn and used for thickening gravies and sauces, making puddings, etc
Also called, especially British, corn flour.

FD&C red no. 40 (I couldn’t find this in the dictionary but it was in the PAN Pesticides Database – Chemicals)
Even more interesting is why they color the pills:
There is a psychological effect of color – “active” colors such as red or yellow tend to make us feel more alert and “passive” colors such as blue or green tend to makes us feel more relaxed. Depending on the expected effect of the medication, the manufacturer may impart a color to help suggest the desired response. In reality, the color has no effect on the effectiveness of the medication, which is why it’s listed under inactive ingredients on the label.
Which lead me to the red dye website that will give you amazing information on the subject as well as sources of red dye:
    Red40 in Pain relievers
Even pain medications may contain Red Dye #40. The reason is based in the fact that there are only four common medications available for over the counter pain relief – aspirin, acetaminophen (Tylenol), ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin) and naproxen (Aleve). Manufacturers need to find a way to to differentiate their product from their competitors, otherwise the consumer is likely to purchase a low priced “generic” pain reliever. Because they contain the same active ingredient as the generic, the only alternative is packaging and branding. By wrapping their pain reliever in a red and yellow striped shell and spending millions of dollars advertising that their colored pill is better than their competitor’s, they can build up product identification, brand loyalty and profits. Increasingly, the generics have diversified to the point where they now mimic the packaging of the product, so you may find generic ibuprofen in either yellow, orange or brown to mimic the leading brands
Now as for Hydroxyethylcellulose, it wasn’t in the dictionary but it lead me to a cosmetic website:

    HYDROXYETHYLCELLULOSE

Binder; Emulsion Stabilizer; Film Former; Viscosity Increasing Agent – Aqueous; BINDING; EMULSION STABILISING; FILM FORMING; STABILISING; VISCOSITY CONTROLLING

    MAGNESIUM STEARATE

Renal Complications Demonstrated in Laboratory Animals

The United States National Library of Medicine Toxicology Data Network (TOXNET) lists the toxic effects that occurred when magnesium stearate was fed to experimental rats. In some rats, urinary stones developed, and in others a condition known as nephrocalcinosis occurred, where excess calcium deposits in the kidneys. Nephrocalcinosis is a dangerous condition that may lead to kidney damage and failure.

    Human Health Effects

The United States National Library of Medicine Toxicology Data Network lists various potential health side effects of magnesium stearate in humans. The network has deemed the chemical slightly toxic if ingested. There have even been reports of deaths following accidental inhalation of baby dusting powder containing magnesium stearate as an ingredient. In cases of accidental ingestion of a large dose, it can result in acute magnesium toxicity manifested by weakness, a drop in blood pressure and a slowing of the heart.

    Other Adverse Effects

The International Programme on Chemical Safety mentions several chemical hazards related to magnesium stearate. In addition to being spontaneously combustible, magnesium stearate is said to emit toxic fumes and pungent smoke when heated. The International Programme on Chemical Safety further enumerates that this can affect breathing and cause the development of coughing. Vomiting can also be triggered as a result of the ingestion of magnesium particles scattered in the air as a result of heating.

    Sodium Starch Glycolate or SSG

    Overview

Sodium starch glycolate, or SSG, is a common ingredient in many pharmaceutical pills, although it is not a medicine. SSG is the sodium salt of a carboxymethyl ether of starch. It is commonly used as a rapid disintegrant, a chemical that promotes the rapid distingetration and immediate release of orally administered drugs. It coats the pills keeping the medicine in, but releases the medicine rapidly upon contact with water.

    Warning

Sodium starch glycolate can be derived from any starch source. For example, corn, rice, potatoes and wheat are all potential sources. Some of these sources, are not gluten-free; for example, wheat. Therefore, medications listing sodium starch glycolate as an ingredient may not be gluten-free. For people in need of a gluten-free diet, such as those suffering from celiac disease, or people with gluten allergies, it is important to determine the exact botanical source of the sodium starch glycolate in the medication before that mediation can be considered safe.

    TRIACETIN
Triacetin, triacetate ester of glycerol, is a clear, combustible and oily liquid with a bitter taste and a fatty odor. It is slightly soluble in water but soluble in alcohol and ether. It has properties of both glycerol and acetate. Diacetin (CAS RN: 25395-31-7) and nonoacetin (CAS RN: 26446-35-5) are glycerin diacetate and glycerin monoacetate respectively. Triacetin is found in some food like butter as it is used as a food additive for the solvency of flavourings for the function of humectant. It is used in perfumery and cosmetics for these applications. It is used as an antifungal agent in external medicine for topical treatment of superficial fungal infections of the skin. Triacetin is applied to cigarette filter as a plasticizer. It is used as a gelatinizing agent in explosives. .
    http://www.chemicalland21.com/industrialchem/plasticizer/TRIACETIN.htm
So, my conclusion to all this is that tylenol is made up of a lot of chemicals that are used in cosmetics, cigarette filter as a plasticizer, gelatinizing agent for explosives, known toxicity, side effect and can be detrimental to those with celiac disease as sodium starch glycolate as an ingredient may not be gluten-free. Not to mention the adverse and life threatening effects of the medical ingredient of tylenol. This safe little pill sure makes me wonder now about the long term effect and how safe it really is. What about you?
I just learned something myself as I am celiac and I have been told for years to take tylenol.

I did some research on the real effects of Tylenol, it might surprise you. What side effects may result from long-term use/high doses of Acetaminophen? What about your liver and kidneys? Mixing with alcohol is even more dangerous yet how many people mix the two everyday?

What can we do? There are many reasons for headaches, diet, stress, misalignment. If we tackle them one at a time we can get closer to the answer instead of masking it with pain pills that lead to further problems. One of our local doctors in Toronto has some great advice on the perils of painkillers, tylenol toxicity and its Alternatives by Zoltan P. Rona, MD, M.Sc. I added some information from his website below that he suggested as alternatives to Tylenol such as Ginger Root, Boswellia, Bromelain, Curcumin and more. See last article.

  • The Facts Of Analgesics (Painkillers)
  • Potential For Liver / Kidney Toxicity

Despite universal acceptance, references have been reported of potential liver and kidney toxicity. These warning reports should alert all users of Tylenol, particularly those who chronically use maximum doses of the drug, to these serious risk factors. Fortunately, patient awareness and routine liver and kidney profile testing will discover any organ abnormality.

    • Reported exposures, under the age of 19: 40,774
    • Unintentional overdoses: 35,705
    • Intentional overdoses: 20,002
    • Total treated for the exposure: 24,934
    • Impact on health from the incident: none, 15,029; minor, 6,223; moderate, 3,138; major, 829; fatal: 120

    Dangerous Side Effects

Serious acetaminophen side effects pose a much greater risk than many consumers realize. In some cases, an individual may experience an acetaminophen side effect and attribute it to some other cause. Sadly, some users even suffer liver failure due to acetaminophen use without their ever knowing.

Some of the more severe acetaminophen side effects include:

    • Acute liver toxicity
    • Allergic reactions including swelling, difficulty breathing, closing of throat, and more
    • Abdominal pain
    • Nausea
    • Unusual bleeding or bruising
    • Death

    Liver Failure, Death, and Acetaminophen

Acetaminophen becomes a toxin when large amounts are ingested or under other specific conditions. The U.S. Acute Liver Failure Study Group found that acetaminophen poisoning is the leading cause of liver failure in the nation, accounting for approximately half of all cases. Some of these instances of liver failure occur even when following the dosage recommendations printed on the bottle.

The following conditions can significantly increase the risk of liver failure and death in acetaminophen users:

    • Heavy alcohol use
    • The simultaneous use of more than one medication containing acetaminophen
    • The simultaneous use of another drug that affects the liver

If you have decreased liver function, hepatitis, AIDS, malnutrition, kidney disease, anorexia nervosa, or drink alcohol on a regular basis, you should not take acetaminophen without first consulting your doctor. Diabetics should note that acetaminophen may alter blood sugar test results.

Although these reports aren’t directly related to Fibromyalgia it has everything to do with our health care today and the crisis it really is in. Just a few to give you an idea of the unnecessary Surgeries and medical mistakes below. I think they are too quick to remove our organs.

    Windsor hospital probes other

    ‘cases of concern’

Operations performed on 2 women who did not have cancer

Heartwell has voluntarily stopped performing surgeries pending the results of the probe. Any patients with concerns about their care were asked to call (519) 255-2213.

Two cases involving Heartwell have been made public so far. The latest was Janice Laporte of Sarnia, whom Heartwell operated on in 2001. A report later revealed the woman did not need the mastectomy. Laporte’s case was the second to come to light in less than a week.

In November 2009, Heartwell did a mastectomy on Laurie Johnston, 44, of Leamington. It was only in a followup appointment that Heartwell told Johnston she had never had cancer. The hospital revealed Heartwell had misread the initial pathology report.

Hospital administration was alerted to the error after being contacted by local media. It immediately launched an investigation and a review of Heartwell’s mastectomy files.

In a statement released Tuesday, the hospital said it had received detailed information about another incident in which a patient was “tragically harmed.”

When Laporte heard there was another woman who underwent an unnecessary mastectomy by the same surgeon, she said she decided to go public with her story.

“I was very devastated, because I went through everything all over again, I cried,” Laporte told CBC News.

BACKGROUND: During the past two years, this Blog has reported on a crisis in Canadian pathology indicated by serious breakdowns in hospitals in Newfoundland, New Brunswick, Quebec, Saskatchewan, Ontario and elsewhere in the country. The purpose, beyond seeking review and reform, is to show that the wide-ranging problems with pathology in Canada were not limited to the criminal sector – and that serious errors, sometimes lethal, were being made in reading test results on living patients. In short, that there was a crisis in Canadian pathology.

    Consequences of Gallbladder Surgery: Overview

    http://smithforensic.blogspot.com/2010/08/pathology-crisis-in-canada-report.html

One of the biggest crimes in modern American medicine is the amount of unnecessary surgery preformed. Gallbladder operation is the most common operation in North America. Every year, more than half a million people in the United States and more than 50,000 people in Canada undergo surgery to remove their gallbladders because of gallstones. Many of these surgeries are unnecessary.

Check out my article on gallstones:

    http://naturalpainreliefforfibromyalgia.com/668

    http://www.diagnose-me.com/cond/C337709.html

Women are at an especially high risk of unnecessary surgery

Women may be at an especially high risk for unwarranted operations, since hysterectomies and Cesarean sections also top the list of “overprescribed and unnecessary” surgeries. Of the approximately 750,000 hysterectomies performed each year, 90 percent are unnecessary, writes Goldberg in Alternative Medicine, making the removal of a woman’s uterus one of the most commonly performed unnecessary surgeries. And the risk that comes with an unwarranted hysterectomy is high. “Each year 750,000 hysterectomies are performed and 2,500 women die during the operation. These are not sick women, but healthy women who go into the hospital and do not come out,” says Dr. Herbert Goldfarb, a gynecologist and assistant clinical professor at New York University’s School of Medicine, in Null’s Woman’s Encyclopedia Of Natural Healing.

Women are also frequently subjected to Caesarean sections they don’t really need. With an estimated 920,000 Cesarean births performed each year, the Cesarean has become the “most common major surgery in America” and it is four times more likely a woman will give birth via cesarean section today than it was in 1970, according to The Medical Racket by Martin L. Gross. Women are also at special risk for receiving unwarranted surgeries because of the results of a mammogram, since the high rate of false positives in mammography often leads to invasive procedures. Women who do not even have cancer to begin with are treated for breast cancer, Goldberg writes. That’s right: These women’s bodies are carved up and altered and they aren’t even sick. So why does this happen?

    More medical mistakes……

    http://abcnews.go.com/Health/story?id=3789868&page=1

Here are a few of our own personal experiences with medical mistakes:

From the most recent, I went to see a gynecologist and within the first 5 minutes she wanted to remove all my womanly parts, talk about unnecessary surgeries. It was just before Christmas too, she was scheduling for a Merry Christmas for her family perhaps? Turns out I don’t need it at all, I am correcting it myself with natural medicines.

As far as medical mistakes, I have had my fair share.

My husband was told he had stomach problems for years, was given stomach pills. He got these bouts of nausea, vommitting and extreme pain in his abdomen and after the attacks he had extreme weakness and fatigue after. I researched his symptoms and I found that he had either gallstones or pancreatitis. We went back to the dr and he laughed at me when I told him what I thought about his gallbladder and pancreas and said it was stomach problems. He went to a second opinion and we got the same results. The next few attacks were getting worse, the last one was so bad I called the ambulance.

To make a long story short, he had pancreatitis so bad he almost died. He ended up in St Michael’s hospital in Toronto. His gallbladder was so full of stones that it damaged his pancreas. It ate the whole center of his pancreas. Since a pancreas is digestive enzymes, they were spilling into his body basically digesting his organs. They had to cut him open and suck all the poison out of his body, they sewed him back up with 4 drains coming out of him because it was too dangerous to take his gallbladder at the time. Six months recovery and a year later they removed his gallbladder. He has two hernias in his intestines that he has to watch carefully now and had a lot of digestion problems.

I was given the drug Lupron that almost ended my life, see story: http://naturalpainreliefforfibromyalgia.com/583

I had a dentist hammer an implant through my sinus, after about 18+ surgeries, 3 failed implants I ended up losing 3 good teeth to a bridge replacement. Even after many corrective surgeries, the damage was so bad I couldn’t have the implant. The same dentist also put a crown in that I heard crack at the time, it then broke into pieces, got infected and I lost that one too. He got 5,000.00 from me. It will cost me over 10,000.00+ to repair the teeth he damaged.

I now have permanent pain in my sinus, a numb cheek from the nerve they cut when  the surgeon had to take bone from my jaw to try to fix the first dentist errors. They had to cut gum out of my mouth in two places and sew it to the front of the gum to try to fix the mess. I had to have a frenectomy because he left the frenum just hanging in my mouth (that is that little flappy thing between the inside of your lip and your two front teeth.

I went through 5 years of hell and ended up losing 5 teeth instead of receiving one implant. All this because I fell on that center nut on the handle bars on my bicycle when I was a kid. You know the needles in the front and the roof of your mouth were painful enough but that many times was a nightmare let alone the surgeries. They took three perfectly good teeth, ground them down to stick to put the bridge on. Now I have three sensitive teeth that hurt to eat or drink cold water now.

How can someone completely destroy someone like that and not take responsibility for it? Wonder why I don’t trust the medical and dental?
