Fibromyalgia could be one of the most misunderstood conditions which can add more health problems.

You can be treated with multiple medications to see if one might help. To me it is like putting a blindfold on with a room full of people, spinning you around and throw darts blindly to see if you can hit the dartboard.

I am just wondering how you can medicate something no one understands? How do we know if we aren’t making things worse?

I have been there, tried it all. You can take medication until your hair falls out but it won’t “cure” your Fibromyalgia. If it did, after all these years, all the drug trials, wouldn’t we be hearing about it on the news and wouldn’t we all be cured?

What you will find within this website is hope. I work on finding what will harm you so you can avoid it, what will help heal your body so you can work on improving your immunity and what news you need to be informed on so you can make your own informed choices.

A lot of it is probably considered controversial, I say it is just put on the back burner because big pharma can’t profit off of it. If they have used herbal treatments for thousands of years successfully, it’s good enough for me, I don’t need scientific proof. If I am hearing people are being healed of cancer, diabetes and many other diseases, it’s proof enough for me.

I have tried many medications and all of them have given me side effects. I have tried many, many herbs and never had any side effects. I am not telling you to quit your pills and take up herbs. It is all your own choice but if you have been through the pills and it didn’t work, you might want to follow

Neck Pain & Fibromyalgia

If you have ever had neck pain in your life then you might relate to how someone who has Fibromyalgia who suffers with chronic neck pain. It has to be the worst thing to suffer with on a constant daily basis. Like a daily tooth ache.

What I have found that helps tremendously:

- keep good posture

- be aware of how you are holding your neck

  - when you are driving, is your neck in a constant forward position?

  - when you are on the computer, is your neck in a constant forward position?

  - when you are standing or sitting, are you holding it in a good position?

  - when you are sitting on the couch is your neck tilted?

- keep it strong with strengthening exercises

- sleep with a pillow tied in the middle and prop it up with a thin pillow underneath. This will help keep it in a good position and will help the stress on your shoulders if you suffer shoulder pain as well

- ice will help soothe some pain away

- stress, physical or mental stress will show up in the neck. Try to avoid stress
if at all possible.

- bath with Epsom salts or herbal tinctures or bath bags

- massage and chiropractors can help relieve some neck pain

- rest, if you don’t sleep enough it can show up as more neck pain

- get up and move around, exercise, roll your shoulders or get walking if you lead a sedentary life. Sitting on the couch is the worse thing you can do for chronic pain of any sort but especially neck and back pain.

- pain creams help a lot

- swimming and hot tubs can help loosen muscles and help you move easier in the
water

Being aware of what you are doing and how you are holding your neck sounds simple but it really makes a difference.

Chronic Pain Relief

There is so much advice out there about chronic pain but what really works?

Sufferers are so mislead by the media because there is such a big profit opportunity from people who are desperate to end their pain.

- Drug companies advertise on tv that their pill is the secret to living a great life as they list off their side effects that take up half the commercial time.

- Tylenol companies advertise that their pain pills “get you back to normal”.

Is that what the world has come to? We are normal if we are drugged up on prescription medications and pain meds?

We are so desperate to find relief we try this and that only to find that it isn’t
really working.

We have to put up with side effects such as:

- weight gain, head aches, stomach pain, swelling, constipation, diarrhea, decreased sexual desire or ability, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth, increased sweating, loss of appetite, increased appetite, sore throat, tiredness, trouble sleeping, vomiting, weakness.

Then there are the more severe symptoms of:

- severe allergic reactions such as  rash, hives, itching, difficulty breathing,
tightness in the chest, swelling of the mouth, face, lips or tongue, unusual
hoarseness, bizarre behaviour, bloody or black tarry stools, blurred vision,
confusion, dark urine, decreased concentration, decreased coordination,
fainting, fast or irregular heartbeat, fever or chills, hallucinations, memory
loss, mouth sores or ulcers, new or worsening mental or mood changes eg.
aggressiveness, agitation, anxiety, depression, hostility, impulsiveness,
irritability, panic attacks, restlessness, pale stools, red swollen, blistered
or peeling skin, ringing in the ears, seizures, severe or persistent dizziness
or headaches, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, tiredness, weakness, trouble sleeping, sluggishness, stiff muscles, stomach pain, suicidal thoughts or attempts, tremors, trouble urinating, unusual bruising or bleeding, unusual weakness, vomitting that looks like coffee grounds, yellowing of the skin or eyes.

Then we have the unfortunate who experience

- heart attacks, strokes, kidney damage, liver damage, successful suicides, anaphylaxis shock and even death.

That is quite a list isn’t it? And all from these drugs that are going to help with your pain and change your life as you know it. Helping you with your pain. That list came mostly from the Cymbalta side effects list, one of the drugs of choice for Fibromyalgia.

I looked to the medical system for years and I experienced a long list of the above and a near death situation. If I didn’t have such a big will to live I wouldn’t be here. Well believe me, if you keep taking pills year after year you WILL develop stomach problems along with a wide array of new symptoms. It seems like you keep adding illnesses to your list of conditions and they keep adding pills for the symptoms which mostly come from the pills. It is like a domino effect that keeps you falling the wrong way, into a chronic pain syndrome instead of out of pain, you become weakened and more dependant on everyone.

There is another way and I am finding my way out of the deep dark hole of our current medical system that didn’t work for me. It was weakening my body to a point that I didn’t find much reason for living. Nothing worked, pills had me to a point that I couldn’t eat anything because it caused so much internal pain, I couldn’t sleep, I couldn’t wake up, I was in a permanent brain fog and on and on. There was only one way to describe it, MISERY. I went for help and ended up getting more symptoms, more pain, more disbelief from sceptic doctors, more frustration and a lot of pills.

Now today is different. I am still in pain but I have learned how to deal with my it on such a positive level. My stomach is so much better, I have less symptoms, I can sleep better, the brain fog is gone, I know my triggers, I know how to deal with each symptom, I know when and what contributes to my pain and I feel alive instead of near death. That alone is worth it’s weight and gold. Before I dreaded living the rest of my life in the state I was in, now I feel there is a light and I am looking forward to being pain free one day. I look forward to having grandchildren one day and being able to be with them instead of them sitting in my wheelchair with me or lying in my death bed.

Fibromyalgia Suicides

What a complicated and frustrating condition Fibromyalgia can be. Fibro has so much unexplained pain it is sometimes even hard for the sufferer to believe that someone can be in that much constant pain without knowing the reason why.

The mystery of Fibro is what causes so much emotional turmoil in the patients life. The unknown is hard to deal with. When you don’t know what is causing your pain, you can’t fix it which leads to frustration. There are multiple symptoms, fatigue, pain all over, muscle pain, tender points, sleep difficulties, brain fog, digestive disorders to name a few. The list seems to grow as we gain more awareness of the syndrome. When you experience this over and  over, it starts to play on the soul. 

This is why it is so important to have a good support system, someone who understands and believes you are experiencing this for real. This could help those who feel suicide is the only choice. You have to believe that you will get through this, that there is a way to gain your strength back and reduce some of the pain and discomfort. Don’t go it alone, we all need help, seek out the right kind. Find a support group, a friend, a family member, a therapist, an inspirational group or a church can be a place for support that will help you through the hard times. If you see someone in need, please help.

I am wondering if Fibromyalgia suicides could be linked to the used of antidepressants. Check out these videos before you decide to use antidepressants or drugs like Prozac. I just checked the ask a patient website and they are also reporting feeling suicidal thoughts from Cymbalta. See for yourself. Lyrica users are reporting brain fog and suicidical thoughts. Is the brain fog from the medications as well? Mine seem to have cleared up since I went off all drugs. My mind is clear now and I don’t feel like a walking zombie.

Natural Pain Relief for Fibromyalgia

There is so much pain in Fibromyalgia. The worst being the unknown. When you suffer from the severe chronic pain one can experience from Fibromyalgia it can be so overwhelming to the patient who has no support or no one who really understands.

It is even harder when you have a critical doctor who doesn’t take your pain
seriously enough. When you are in the dark about all the pain it is hard to function. I can help with a few simple natural remedies that can help you through your crisis.

  • Find a new doctor who understands and believes you.

  • Find someone to talk to who is compassionate and believes you are experiencing real and debilitating pain.

  • Use ice on the painful muscles.

  • Stop using the painful muscle until you have stretched it out to relieve the
    pain. If stretching doesn’t do it, you need to use ice, have a bath in Epsom salts, relax or sleep it off. If you keep working a tight muscle it will
    continue to get into a bigger ball of pain. We are only human and repetitive
    work leads to strained muscles.

  • Stay off the couch! Couches keep you in bad posture and only add to painful
    muscles.

  • Keep your body fit. I know it is hard when you are in pain but from experience, your pain will increase with time if you don’t. Even walking will help. Stretching is best.

  • Be aware of what could be causing you the pain and don’t let yourself get to
    that point. An example is when I am on the computer too long, I experience
    pain in the center of my back, my neck, shoulders and wrists. Be aware of
    how you are sitting, the position of your neck, your shoulders and feet. We
    should be taught good posture in school and how to maintain it. Bad posture
    accounts for a lot of pain and discomfort.

  • Diet is major. A simple solution, eat to survive, don’t live to eat. Natural
    whole foods are best, lots of nutritious fresh foods that are not
    genetically modified. We are digestive enzyme deficient. Eat some live food
    with every meal to help digest it. Stay away from McDonalds! Diet is like
    drugs, hard to get off addictive foods. My advice is one day at a time. If
    you drink those double double Tim Horton’s coffees, cut down 1/2 teaspoon of sugar a day or a week until you can go without it.

  • Don’t rely on caffeine to get you going, it is like sugar, a quick high to
    an abrupt low. Get your body working on it’s own without relying on caffeine or red bull to get you going. If you are that bad, you need to take some R & R time. Get your adrenals checked.

  • If you live in the North and experience pain when it rains or snows, or
    arthritis, try some heat and wish for sunshine and dry weather. They blamed
    all my pain on Fibromyalgia when in fact a lot of it was from the weather.
    My condition can change over night. I was always wondering what I did to
    have so much more pain today than yesterday when in fact it wasn’t me, it
    was the weather.

  •  Vitamin D is our sunshine Vitamin, with out it we can become depressed, SAD and all research is pointing to cancers from lack of Vitamin D. When the sun shines, get outside and absorb 20 minutes of it.

  • Avoid conflict, stress only adds to injury. You need to have a healthy
    relationship with the least amount of stress as possible. It isn’t healthy
    for anyone. If you have conflict, avoid those people, if your job is too
    stressful, seriously consider a change. Even a pay cut is worth it if you
    make a change that removes the stress from your job or a psychopathic boss.

I came across some information on Lipitor that people who are taking the drug and have been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia need to know. It causes muscle pain  so perhaps this is another drug that causes Fibromyalgia like symptoms.

Lipitor made by Pfizer, is the best selling drug in history. It’s 20 year patent is running out and they are lower the price so they won’t lose business to generic competition.

What is Lipitor?

- used to lower LDL cholesterol

What are Lipitor side effects?

- myalgia which presents itself as muscle pain and weakness. Mild to moderate is common

- arthritis/arthralgias

- diarrhea

- headaches

- rashes

- elevation of liver transaminases

- elevation of creatin kinase (a muscle enzyme)

-various gastrointestinal symptoms, flatulence, dyspepsia, abdominal pain and various infection symptoms

Life threatening side effects

- Rhabdomyolysis, muscle cells break down releasing large amounts of degraded proteins into the blood stream. Protein degradation can lead to acute renal injury and failure.
Rare but well documented. Seek medical attention right away to prevent the need for dialysis.

-  Hepatotoxicity is another serious Lipitor side effect. It can be
asymptomatic or can lead to right upper quadrant abdominal pain and jaundice in more severe cases.

- Allergic reactions including Stevens-Johnson Syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis, photosensitivity, vasculitis, polymyalgia rheumatica, angioedema, anaphylaxis, and others can be serious too.

- Pancreatitis is a rare but serious Lipitor side effect.

- Lupus erythematosis is also a rare, but recorded, as a Lipitor side effect.

Unusual Lipitor side effects:

- Pancreatitis and Rhabdomyolysis are probably the most unusual Lipitor side effects of note.

I wish I knew then what I know now! I never really knew the meaning of that saying until the past couple of years. I now know that muscles can leave you in chronic debilitating pain.
Once they get in a knot, they won’t let up until you relieve that tension. If you keep working it, it will get more painful and can leave you in a debilitating state. Muscles can be locked up in pain for weeks, month, even years! Like arthritis leaves people in a debilitating state, so can muscles.

I was a price changer for a grocery store. We had to manually price pop, chips, cans etc. Some days I might have had to take a couple hundred large bottles of pop off the shelf, take the price off of each one, put the new price on and put them back on the shelf. Then do the same thing in the chip isle, then the cans and on and on for 8 solid hours. I manually moved and priced thousands of items a day. I could change twice as many items as the other girls, I was fast and efficient. In between that I was called to cash to ring through and bag carts full of
groceries.

Talk about repetitious work day after day, week after week, year after year. It’s no wonder I ended up with chronic muscle pain and tendonitis. I wonder if this is a root of Fibromyalgia? To this day any repetitious work leaves me in debilitating pain.

I then fell at work and I ended up with chronic neck, lower back and hip pain but kept on working. I then became ill internally and it ended in chronic pain in all the muscles and joints in my body. They said it was tendonitis and eventually
Fibromyalgia and Lupus. Not once did they find the injuries, they just looked for labels to name my pain with so they could treat me with medications. Is it a chain of events that lead to Fibromyalgia?

Repetitious work leads to injuries of the muscles and tendonitis from over use. Stretching exercises should be integrated in these type of jobs to prevent these type of injuries especially when it is well known that it causes these types of chronic pain.

I then had 20 years of the medication, pain pills, injections, chiropractors, massage therapists, specialist and on and on and on and you know what? The pain always came back. Nothing ever worked to get rid of the pain permanently but was making a lot of people wealthy. I was getting more and more pain and
symptoms everyday. I was becoming weak and depressed, stomach aches and many other symptoms. A mere shadow of myself.

If I could give a piece of personal advice that might save you a lot of pain and maybe you liver from too many pain pills. If you are one of those people who has one of those repetitive jobs
and you have pain, tendonitis or Fibromyalgia you need to learn to pace yourself and relieve that pain and tension before it becomes chronic.

The best thing I have found is to stretch that muscle out once you feel pain or feel it getting tense. If the stretch isn’t enough you need to ice it and stop adding to injury, don’t
keep working it. Change what you are doing or find a different way to do it.  Get up and stretch the painful wrist, elbow or shoulder before it gets into a ball of pain. Get to know your pain and try to find the cause instead of treating it with medications first. There could be a simple solution to avoid it. It is like treating a sliver in your hand with Tylenol because it hurts, why not just pull it out?

Now that all the hustle and bustle of the holidays is over, the pain and fatigue sets in for people with Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue, cancer, arthritis or any other chronic pain. Over use and abuse of certain muscles, mental and physical stress and the wrong kinds of food will do it.

What we can do now is sit back and take a good look to identify the cause for the excess pain so we can avoid repeating it next year.

- get yourself a yearly planner

- plan to start shopping earlier, listen throughout the year for hints of what they like and put it in your planner.

- you can spread the financial burden of the big Christmas bill by buying a gift every month from now to next year and you can have it wrapped and tucked away for the big day.

- delegate some of the work that causes you the most pain

- when you start to experience pain, stop what you are doing and stretch the muscle that is overworked before it gets into a big ball of pain

- ice the sore muscle or injury

- exercise such as walking or dancing gets our blood and thyroid moving, it also works out a lot of kinks and pains. Go for it!

- hot showers work out a lot of pain and kick starts a sluggish thyroid

- epson salt baths helps ease pain as well as detoxifies

- plan healthier choices for food! I don’t believe we should eat foods that cause us pain or symptoms, then take a pill to settle the upset. Find foods that work with your body’s needs to what makes it feel good rather than feeling ill. Be brave, learn to resist it if it is going to leave you in pain! Is it really worth the suffereing?

Food is definitely my poison and I can experience severe pain and the strangest symptoms when I eat certain things.

The book one mans food is another mans poison is a really great book everyone should read to understand your blood type – food connection. It opened my eyes to relating what was going on in my body and mood to certain foods I was eating. It took me many years to learn that many of my symptoms were food related, others were mechanical and some from the weather itself. Who knew that the mucous I coughed up was from eating dairy? Or the tingling hands and feet were from the flour I ate. As a kid, I thought it was normal to have a headache and a stomach ache. Now I just removed certain foods and I don’t suffer anymore. If I only knew then, what I know now.

The head pain I now have is from the TMJ a dentist gave me from a botched implant. I could have taken Tylenol for the rest of my life and it would never correct the problem. I think more people should consider their teeth and jaw position when having headaches or head pain. I have severe pain in the joint just under my right ear and up the side of my head. My dentist is working to correct my jaw position and the pain is starting to subside. 

Learn what is causing your pain or symptom, if it is food, simply try to avoid it, if it is an activity, find another way, spread the activity out or get someone else to do it. We are all different and different foods cause different reactions in certain blood types. Get to know what ails you!

There are many other choices out there and we have found many wonderful foods to replace the old white flour, dairy, fried food and sugar diets. Try to make a change for the good this year! 

- the all popular chocolate can cause a plugged colon, very constipating to some people yet they will still eat it, then take laxatives for it not realizing that it is from the chocolate. Chocolate is good for you but not most you see at the stores, they are nothing more than loads of sugar, not so healthy! 

- dairy can cause pain and diarrhea

- flour can cause a host of symptoms you wouldn’t believe

- sugar can cause a plethora of health problems and a lot of sugar is genetically modified beet cane sugar now

- the weather is something out of our control. I can’t function in the rain, it leaves me weak and frail and in pain in all my joints. For those of you who have a lot of money and a lot of pain in the damp weather, the only thing I have found that offers some hope so far is farabloc clothing but I haven’t tried it. I think it would work though.

Sometimes the reason for pain is not so obvious though. For example, I never knew why I was in such severe pain for days after we traveled long distances in the truck. It was because every bump on the road was pounding the heck of my damaged coccyx. Also from having a twisted pelvis all the bouncing of the truck yanked away at the muscles around my hip and spine, so I could barely walk for days. The doctors just blamed it on the Fibromyalgia.  

I now have a pillow with the coccyx out of it or a long skinny pillow tucked under my right sits bone helps save me days of severe pain.  

I had so much pain throughout my body I couldn’t zero in on the cause of any one particular pain, so they labelled it all Fibromyalgia. It took me 20 years to finally get to the bottom of each pain and symptom! Once you understand it, you can better deal with it! Don’t ever give up to finding the exact reason for your pain. Being in the dark won’t help you regain your health, nor will never ending prescriptions. 

Getting to know your pain is half the battle! Once you learn to recognize the triggers that make it worse, you can try to avoid getting to that point where it becomes that agonizing, nauseating pain that is unbearable.

Aspirin is widely used for pain, it originated from white willow bark, salicin. We didn’t like the bitter taste so we synthesized it into a chemical mixture and called it aspirin. Most medications are discoveries from Mother Nature anyways, they just synthesize the healing properties and make it in a lab. Why not take the real thing? I don’t understand why we want to make everything into a chemical so we can profit, even at the expense of the planet and the people. We are making it a plastic world.

Why don’t we go back to Mother Nature and save the people and the planet? Be kind to your body and the planet this year!
