Fibromyalgia and Stress

Stress and anxiety can debilitate you and here is a way we can help without the use of drugs.
Inflammation is a major cause of disease and it comes from what we eat, what we drink and what we think.

Modern way of handling stress is with medications such as Celexa, Prozac, Paxil, Elavil, Effexxor XL, Luvox, Vanatrip or Amitriptyline to name a few. What are the side effects or the long term
effects of taking these drugs. What does it mean to your organs years down the road?

If you would like a non drug approach that works, here you go:

If you have Fibromyalgia, have had surgery or any other chronic illness, you owe it to yourself to listen to this video. It is showing Fibro caused by virus’s.

Did you have flu-like symptoms when this all started? I did. When I was a kid, I got really sick after my vaccination and I believe it effected my immunity and that is why I suffer today with chronic illness. Definitely worth considering and investigating!

Welcome to Natural Pain Relief For Fibromyalgia

Fibromyalgia could be one of the most misunderstood conditions which can add more health problems.

You can be treated with multiple medications to see if one might help. To me it is like putting a blindfold on with a room full of people, spinning you around and throw darts blindly to see if you can hit the dartboard.

I am just wondering how you can medicate something no one understands? How do we know if we aren’t making things worse?

I have been there, tried it all. You can take medication until your hair falls out but it won’t “cure” your Fibromyalgia. If it did, after all these years, all the drug trials, wouldn’t we be hearing about it on the news and wouldn’t we all be cured?

What you will find within this website is hope. I work on finding what will harm you so you can avoid it, what will help heal your body so you can work on improving your immunity and what news you need to be informed on so you can make your own informed choices.

A lot of it is probably considered controversial, I say it is just put on the back burner because big pharma can’t profit off of it. If they have used herbal treatments for thousands of years successfully, it’s good enough for me, I don’t need scientific proof. If I am hearing people are being healed of cancer, diabetes and many other diseases, it’s proof enough for me.

I have tried many medications and all of them have given me side effects. I have tried many, many herbs and never had any side effects. I am not telling you to quit your pills and take up herbs. It is all your own choice but if you have been through the pills and it didn’t work, you might want to follow
this website.

Fibromyalgia and Memory Loss

Do you suffer from memory loss?

Are you afraid you may end up with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease?

You don’t have to lose your mind. There are many ways to keep your memory even into a ripe old age.

Between my husband and I. I remember everything, he forgets everything. I drink green tea and take natural meds and herbs. He drinks coffee and takes pills the dr prescribes. He will eat foods that contain aspartame and msg, I don’t.

Life is all about choices isn’t it? Seeing the long term effects of our choices sometimes turns up in ways we don’t expect them to. There are many things that can help your memory but we will start with one. Lets take a good look at green tea.

WebMD says more than a decades worth of research about green tea’s health benefits have shown particularly it’s potential to fight:

  1. Cancer

  2. Heart Disease

Limited studies for:

  1. Lowering Cholesterol

  2. Burning Fat

  3. Preventing Diabetes

  4. Preventing Stroke

  5. Starving Off Dementia

US National Library of Medicine

National Institute of Health

Have 2350 articles on green tea. Here is the conclusions from one study:

PGC-1? Expression Decreases in the Alzheimer Disease Brain as a Function of Dementia

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3052997/

EGCG, ENVIRONMENT-FRIENDLY TEA POLYPHENOLS AND THEIR SYNTHETIC ANALOGS AND PRODRUGS FOR HUMAN CANCER DETERRENCE AND TREATMENT

Conclusions

Tea polyphenols are powerful bioactive compounds that have anticarcinogenic activity.

They interfere with the initiation, advancement and progression of cancer by regulating critical procedures of cellular expansions, differentiations, apoptosis, angiogenesis and metastasis.

Although tea has actually been consumed for centuries, it has actually just lately been studied substantially as a health-promoting beverage that may act to avoid a many illness including cancer.

Numerous studies revealed that:

  • Tea polyphenols potently cause apoptotic cell death and cell-cycle arrest in lump cells but not in their normal cell counterparts.

  • GTP’s affect multiple organic paths.

This work is supported partly by research grants from:

  • The National Cancer Principle.

  • National Institutes of Health (to Q.P.D.; 1R01CA120009 AND 3R01CA120009-04S1).

  • The Regions of Quality Plan set up under the University Grants Committee of the Hong Kong Unique Administrative Region, China (to T.H.C.; Task No. AoE/P010/01).

With this information in mind, the Cancer Society won’t recommend green tea as a cancer treatment. It may not get rid of cancer but it can help. Don’t we need to just fill our lives with things that help deter illness rather than contribute?

NATURAL PAIN REMEDY FOR FIBROMYALGIA

I found a natural pain killing formula for Fibromyalgia from Tony the herbalist.
Finally something that takes pain away and all from your kitchen. It isn’t going
to taste very good but the healing properties and no side effects make it worth
trying. You can make a choice of years of pain killers that cause liver and
stomach  problems.

This formula is for those with Fibromyalgia, restless leg, sore feet and body aches
and pains.

I wrote out Tony Pantalleresco recipe, it is all approximate and he said you can tweak
it to your taste:

1 tbsp cayenne pepper

1 tbsp Hungarian hot paprika

White of palmetto or lemon or grapefruit or oranges (bioflavinoids), he used dried palmetto

1 tsp turmeric

1/2 to 1 quart of distilled water (I use reverse osmosis)

Blend together, then add

About 1/2 fresh pineapple

****He cautions for those who are on blood thinners to not combine with with their warfarin or pills
but to take them 4 hours apart.

I am a long time lover of herbs and have used them for years. I am going to try this recipe to see if
it helps with my Fibromyalgia, sciatica and hip pain. I have read on many occasions that turmeric is very medicinal. It has been used in Ayurvedic medicine for years.

If you don’t like drinking the drink I found a recipe that you can put on externally that will
help with pain. It is probably like those hot pepper creams that the doctor prescribes.

Pain

Mix:

1 tsp of turmeric

2 tsp of ginger with water to make a paste

Spread over a cloth, place on affected area and bandage.

You can also add 1 tsp of turmeric to 1 cup of warm milk and drink before bed.

Turmeric has all kinds of healing properties. It is an alternative, analgesic, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, anti-tumor, anti-allergic, antioxicant, antiseptic, antispasmodic, appetizer, astringent, cardiovascular, carminative, cholagogue, digestive, diuretic, stimulant and vulnerary. Isn’t that incredible from one little herb?:

  •  Detoxifies the liver

  •  Balances cholesterol levels

  •  Fights allergies

  •  Stimulates digestion

  •  Boosts immunity

  •  Enhances the complexion

Many other uses and remedies, check it out!

Neck Pain & Fibromyalgia

If you have ever had neck pain in your life then you might relate to how someone who has Fibromyalgia who suffers with chronic neck pain. It has to be the worst thing to suffer with on a constant daily basis. Like a daily tooth ache.

What I have found that helps tremendously:

- keep good posture

- be aware of how you are holding your neck

  - when you are driving, is your neck in a constant forward position?

  - when you are on the computer, is your neck in a constant forward position?

  - when you are standing or sitting, are you holding it in a good position?

  - when you are sitting on the couch is your neck tilted?

- keep it strong with strengthening exercises

- sleep with a pillow tied in the middle and prop it up with a thin pillow underneath. This will help keep it in a good position and will help the stress on your shoulders if you suffer shoulder pain as well

- ice will help soothe some pain away

- stress, physical or mental stress will show up in the neck. Try to avoid stress
if at all possible.

- bath with Epsom salts or herbal tinctures or bath bags

- massage and chiropractors can help relieve some neck pain

- rest, if you don’t sleep enough it can show up as more neck pain

- get up and move around, exercise, roll your shoulders or get walking if you lead a sedentary life. Sitting on the couch is the worse thing you can do for chronic pain of any sort but especially neck and back pain.

- pain creams help a lot

- swimming and hot tubs can help loosen muscles and help you move easier in the
water

Being aware of what you are doing and how you are holding your neck sounds simple but it really makes a difference.

Fibro Stomach Pain and Food

If you suffer from digestive upset such as pain, acid reflex, diarrhea or constipation why don’t you look at your diet first. It could be a certain food you are eating that you could eliminate rather than take pills or laxatives. When it comes to Fibromyalgia, there are multi things going on and one of them will be a food intolerance of some sort if you are suffering from symptoms. We are what we eat.

A lot of people don’t realize that health and mood has anything to do with what we put into our mouths. It is by far the most important thing that you can do is to identify what you are eating with your symptoms. We all need to eat a balanced, healthful meal that is suited for our unique body and blood type. We are all different and our needs and reactions to foods are all unique. You need to identify your unique formula to digestive health, there isn’t one formula that works for everyone, if it did, we would all be identical. There is however some simple rules that everyone could follow

When I was first diagnosed with Fibromyalgia I didn’t realize that the stomach pains I suffered from were related to the wheat and dairy I ate. I was taught in school that they were healthy for you. Now that I have experienced the symptoms with consuming certain food I can tell you, it can be detrimental to your health.

I was diagnosed with neuropathy (nerve pain) and carpal tunnel, given prescriptions for it when in reality it was the wheat I was eating. I knew I was celiac but I didn’t realize it was hidden in a lot of foods I was still consuming. A dietician told me I could eat spelt and kamut flour when it is actually full of gluten too. I was at a point that my hands hurt so bad and my feet hurt to walk on them and here it was all from wheat.

Flour can give such a wide variety of symptoms, it is never really considered as a culprit. Think about it, gluten. Glue to your insides. Remember in school, they
made glue out of white flour and water. If you have chronic gut aches, diarrhea or constipation, consider wheat as a culprit.

Some hidden sources  are:

  • yogurt with fruit

  • ketchup

  • lunch meats

  • cheese spreads

  • salad dressings

  • canned soups

  • soy sauce

  • Worcestershire sauce

  • prepared foods

  • corn chips

  • candy and even licorice.

Other sources not so obvious

  • distilled white vinegar

  • hydrolyzed vegetable protein

  • malt or malt flavouring

  • modified starch or modified food starch

  • monoglyceride and diglycerides

  • products that list “natural” or “artificial” flavorings”

  • red or yellow food dyes

  • vegetable gum or vegetable protein

Milk is the next culprit to look at.

Lets look at some staple food that are overlooked as to how healthy they really are and should be in everyone’s diet:

Onions

In the Doctors book of food remedies it says onions can help

  • raise beneficial HDL cholesterol

  • lowers blood pressure

  • decrease the risk of cancer

  • relieve congestion

  • reduce inflammation

Some onions are so sweet too. Eat them raw, add them to salads, add them to
everything you cook with. They say onions and other members of the allium family such as leeks, shallots and scallions contain dozens of compounds that provide protection from other conditions including cancer, high blood pressure, heart disease, high cholesterol and asthma.

Celery

Can help:

  • reduce high blood pressure

  • lower risk of cancer

  • insoluble fiber

  • essential nutrients including potassium, vitamin C and calcium

Interesting facts: The ancient Romans, notorious party animals wore wreaths of
celery to protect the from hangovers which may explain the practice of celery
sticks in Bloody Mary’s.

Carrots

Can help:

  • improve night vision

  • reduce the risk of cancer and heart disease

  • prevent certain cancers

  • lower cholesterol

  • prevent heart attacks

Carrots are rich in beta-carotene, an antioxidant compound that fights free radicals that even contributes to aging.

Apples

Can help:

  • lower the risk of heart disease

  • prevent constipation

  • control diabetes

  • prevent cancer

Most of the healing power of apples are in the skin which contain about 4 milligrams of a compound called quercetin.

Berries

Can help:

  • prevent cataracts

  • ward off cancer

  • prevent constipation

  • reduce the risk of infection

Berries contain a compound called ellagic acid which is believed to help prevent
cellular changes that lead to cancer. Strawberries and black berries having the
most.

Broccoli

King of crucifers

Can help:

  • protect against heart disease

  • fight off cancer

  • boost immunity

  • osteoporosis

Broccoli contains not just one but two separate compounds

  • indole-3-carbinol (or I3C, for short)

  • sulforaphane – that help sweep up cancer causing substances before they have a chance to do harm

  • beta-carotene

  • vitamin c

  • calcium

  • folate (normal tissue growth)

  • fiber

My gynaecologist put me on indole-3-carbinol to clear up my cysts and as a breast cancer prevention.

See how food can help us heal.

Now of course, this is for non genetically modified foods!

Read my article on the power of bananas.

Welcome to Natural Pain Relief For Fibromyalgia

I came across this article from Howard B Pikoff, PhD that I need to share with all my Fibromyalgia sisters and bros.  I would almost bet that everyone has experience the mislabelling of their Fibromyalgia pain as psychological. We should be outraged that Fibromyalgia is still being met with disbelief TODAY!

Over 100 years, actually over 2 centuries women and men have suffered because of what, scepticism? I know even when I have a day that the doctor comments that “I look good” I can see and hear the disbelief in him that I am in pain. Tell me what does your looks have to do with you pain anyways? Sure some days you can see it in a Fibromyalgia sufferers face because the pain and stress are overwhelming and none too obvious but some days you can look good and be in a lot of pain and some days you can look like hell and be in less pain. The saying “don’t judge a book by it’s cover” was perhaps meant for the Fibromyalgia sufferer.

I have to ask, could it be because it is predominately a woman’s illness and it is mostly men who are the ones diagnosing with disbelief? We didn’t have a right to vote at one point so why would we have a right to pain? It can be extremely frustrating and emotionally devastating for the sufferer to be met with this skepticism especially when you have done everything in your power to get well. I have had many, many agonizing appointments from male doctors who reek of disbelief as they ridiculed me and made me feel small. I know hundreds of women who have been emotionally tormented by doctors who underestimate the pain that one suffers with this illness. You just need to exercise! Yet my husband gets full sympathy and belief to all his whims and whines. He has diabetes and is over weight and not once has he told him to exercise. I am thin and fit and I am told to exercise every visit. Hmmm.

So the highlights in this article that caught my eye were:

- the Psychological enshrinement of fibromyalgia was over 100 years in the making.

- chronology started in 1592 when a French physician introduced the term ”rheumatism”

- in the 1800′s an American neurologist clustered widespread pain, fatigue and anxiety in a psychologically-based syndrome he labelled “neurasthenia”. The seed of a century of psychological mislabelling

- psychogenic Fibromyalgia reached it’s full flowering in the 1930′s, from a Scottish disability examiner labelled it as a psychological disorder at best, a form of malingering at worst.

So in conclusion, after over 200 years of trying to disprove this illness as physical, reviewers from psychology, psychiatry and rheumatology have found little evidence that Fibromyalgia is caused by:

Depression

Anxiety

Stress

Sexual Abuse and the like

or that Fibromyalgia can be a result of:

Repression

Deep seated conflict or any other emotion

Nor is there empirically-based evidence for a Fibromyalgia personality

So Fibromyalgia can be added to a list of medical disorders formerly thought to be psychological in nature (asthma, migraine, peptic ulcer, epilepsy ect.)

What is clear is the final undoing has begun!

Isn’t it amazing how much time it is taking? If only that much time, energy and money was put into finding a reason
why instead of trying to disprove it’s existence. We have arthritis in joints, disease in all organs, heart, kidneys, liver, why wouldn’t we have disease in the muscles as well? Unbelievable!

Please read the full article, it is only 10 pages and has a sense of relief to it for the Fibromyalgia sufferer. Thank you for your article Howard Pikoff!
