How can we just disregard the lives Gardasil has destroyed and go on like it never even happened? Then we put the immunization back into action knowing we could jeopardize more young unsuspecting girls?

I really don’t get it. If we put a product out there and it endangered or injured people, it would be recalled and taken off the shelf rather quickly. So why do we allow the drugs and immunizations to keep on the shelf to injure more people?

Please do some research and get the facts before you take this drug. Here are some of the best sources for information on this subject:

Watch this video from Dr Mercola on Gardasil:

He has many articles on the subject:

As of the end of January 2010, 49 unexplained deaths following Gardasil injections have been reported to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System. By contrast, 52 deaths are attributed to unintended acceleration in Toyotas, which triggered a $2 billion recall.”

This has got to be one of the best information base for immunization I have found. Excellent site:

As of July 5, 1994, the program has paid $452.5 million for vaccine injury or death, and is back-logged with more than 2,600 claim cases–all of which will not be settled for several years.

Are you as concerned as I am about consuming genetically modified foods? I don’t want to be eating it nor do I want my family. We have a right to know which foods are GMO. We are consuming it through sources such as corn flakes without our knowledge of it even being a genetically modified food.

We need to be informed about the real effects of gmo and the devastation it is causing our natural farmers with contamination. I have compiled some different sources:

This is from Mike Adams:

The American Academy of Environmental Medicine (AAEM) states, “Genetically Modified foods have not been properly tested and pose a serious health risk. There is more than a casual association between GM foods and adverse health effects. There is causation.” The AAEM also called for a moratorium on GMO’s in food and for physicians to advise their patients to avoid GM foods. Since the massive invasion of GMO’s into the food supply from 1996, chronic diseases and food allergies have doubled.

Now that President Obama has appointed Michael Taylor as Food Czar to his cabinet, the struggle is destined to become more difficult unless more consumers knowingly boycott GMO products. Michael Taylor was a vice president and chief lobbyist for Monsanto prior to his cabinet selection. Did you know that the stated aim of Monsanto is to own the patents for all the food crop seeds in the world? And now they’re in the White House!

Wikihow has some great information:

Become familiar with the most common applications of genetic modification. These are the products (and their derivatives) that are most likely to be genetically modified:

  • Soybeans – Gene taken from bacteria (Agrobacterium sp. strain CP4) and inserted into soybeans to make them more resistant to herbicides. See How to Live With a Soy Allergy for more information on avoiding soy products
  • Corn – There are two main varieties of GE corn. One has a Gene from the lepidoptera pathogen microorganism Bacillus thuringiensis inserted to produce the Bt toxin, which poisons insect pests. There are also several events which are resistant to various herbicide. Present in high fructose corn syrup and glucose/fructose which is prevalent in a wide variety of foods in America.
  • Rapeseed/Canola – Gene added/transferred to make crop more resistant to herbicide.
  • Sugar beets – Gene added/transferred to make crop more resistant to Monsanto’s Roundup herbicide.
  • Rice – Genetically modified to resist herbicides; not currently available for human consumption, but trace amounts of one GM long-grained variety (LLRICE601) may have entered the food supply in the USA and Europe. More recently, golden rice, a different strain of rice has been engineered to produce significantly higher levels of beta carotene, which the body uses to produce vitamin A. Golden rice is still undergoing testing to determine if it is safe for human consumption.
  • Cotton – engineered to produce Bt toxin. The seeds are pressed into cottonseed oil, which is a common ingredient in vegetable oil and margarine.
  • Dairy – Cows injected with GE hormone rBGH/rBST; possibly fed GM grains and hay.
  • Aspartame/AminoSweet – Addictive and dangerous artificial sweetener commonly found in chewing gum and “diet” beverages. A building block of aspartame, the amino acid phenylalanine, is usually manufactured with the aid of genetically modified E. coli bacteria. This process has been used industrially in the USA for many years.
  • Papayas
  • Farm Raised Salmon

Recognize fruit and vegetable label numbers.

  • If it is a 4-digit number, the food is conventionally produced.
  • If it is a 5-digit number beginning with an 8, it is GM. However, do not trust that GE foods will have a PLU identifying it as such, because PLU labeling is optional.
  • If it is a 5-digit number beginning with a 9, it is

Jeffery Smith adds more valuable information. His website is loaded with sources for GMO foods, he has been involved with GMO for nearly a decade :

There are three categories of genetically modified (GM) foods: crops, dairy products and meat, and enzymes and additives created from GM bacteria and fungus.

GM Additives, Cooking Aids, Vitamins, and Enzymes

Genetic engineering is used in the production of many food additives, flavorings, vitamins, and processing aids, such as enzymes. According to the Non-GMO Source, “Such ingredients are used to improve the color, flavor, texture, and aroma of foods and to preserve, stabilize, and add nutrients to processed foods.”

Among vitamins, vitamin C (ascorbic acid) is often made from corn, vitamin E is usually made from soy. Vitamins A, B2, B6, and B12 may be derived from GMOs as well. In addition, vitamin D and vitamin K may have “carriers” derived from GM corn sources, such as starch, glucose, and maltodextrin. In addition to finding these vitamins in supplements, they are sometimes used to fortify foods. Organic foods, even if fortified with vitamins, are not allowed to use ingredients derived from GMOs.

Flavorings can also come from corn or other GM sources. For example, “hydrolyzed vegetable protein (HVP), a commonly used flavor enhancer derived from corn and soy could be GMO,” says the Non-GMO Source. Vanillin can also be GM.

“Genetically engineered bacteria and fungi are routinely used as sources of enzymes for the manufacture of a wide variety of processed foods,” says GEO-PIE. The live organisms are not added to the foods themselves. Rather, they are grown in vats and produce large quantities of enzymes. The enzymes are removed, purified, and used in food production. Oftentimes, the enzymes get destroyed during the cooking process and are not present in the final product. As such, they are rarely listed on the label.

One common enzyme is called chymosin, which is used in the production of hard cheeses. In the past, it was taken from the stomach linings of calves (called rennet). Since the GM variety was introduced in 1990, more than 70 percent of U.S. cheeses now use this variety. It is not allowed in organic cheese. Xanthan gum is another product that may be derived from a GM process.

Avoiding GM additives is difficult, since the label will rarely list them. You can find a list of GM enzymes and their uses at or in the book’s appendix B.

And from the GreenMuse:

Avoid non-organic soy, canola and corn

Pesticide Action Network North America reports that the USA is the world’s largest producer of genetically engineered crops. Currently, an estimated 90% of all soybeans grown in America are Monsanto’s Roundup Ready Soy Beans explains The World According to Monsanto. More than 61% of corn, 75% of canola and 50% of Hawaiian Papaya are genetically modified. If the food isn’t organic, then there is no guarantee that it isn’t genetically modified.

Your being mislead about GMO.

Is that enough information to tell you that we are in danger of having nutritionally deprived, cloned food from god only knows what on our plates without even being aware of the fact?

After all that busy Christmas rush I know you are feeling the Fibromyalgia pain now sister. I am inspired to help you and to let you know there is someone who truly understands where you are coming from. How can you possibly understand how much pain someone is enduring unless you have actually experienced it? I find it hard to believe some days myself how “IT????” can just beat me up like I was on the receiving end of a baseball bat. I say to myself sometimes, how can I possibly have this much pain? It can be so intense and so severe that you are sure there has to be something seriously wrong. That hot, burning, nagging pain that makes you feel like you could throw up. What is even worse is a Dr looking over his glasses at you saying, “You just need to exercise!” Uggggg!! How frustrating and humiliating! I have exercised my whole life, give me a break!

I eat well and exercise so my frustration comes from the fact that most people and Doctors judge you by the way you look, those who believe if you look fine then you are healthy! Or on the other end, you are judged as being lazy and a hypochondriac. Have we had a hard time being recognized because it is a male dominated world of Doctors who think we are being lazy bitches? Whiny women? Hmmm. Is that why it took so long to even be acknowledged as being real? I am not weak, whiny, lazy or a hypochondriac. I am just looking for the root cause of the pain to cure it. I am truly sorry if you have had to endure any of these experiences, I understand the trauma it has caused you.

This is why I created this website, for you, the Fibromyalgia women who have been through hell with this extremely painful condition that you can’t see. I am empathetic to you for all you have been through, all you have endured, and for those of you who have been scoffed at, belittled, disbelieved, and misunderstood.  I hear you sister and I am here to help you!

The holidays can be very stressful and physically, mentally and emotionally draining for the average person but this can mean an intense flare for Fibromyalgia sufferers. Christmas over-indulgence can lead to intestinal upset and all kinds of digestive problems to boot. I have a lot of food allergies and it is really hard to say no to everything around Christmas time and I pay for it! Find your hidden food allergies, your body will thank you for it.

The best post Christmas gift you can give yourself is to take some time out for you! Take an Epsom salts bath, it will help soak away a lot of pain so you can better deal with whatever pain is left. I grow fresh herbs in my garden in the summer, dry them and make herbal bath bags. The herbs help with a lot of pain and help replenish as well as detoxify your body depending on what combination you brew. You can also use aromatherapy and a relaxation tape or your favorite music while you are soaking your painful body, you can be relaxing your stressed mind as well. You owe it to yourself!

Share your comments or experiences  below!

I wish everyone the very Merry Christmas! I hope everyone has a healthy and happy day!

Welcome to Natural Pain Relief For Fibromyalgia

I did a search on Lysol after I saw the commercial saying it was recommended by pediatricians. My mother was big on spraying Lysol and she died of breast cancer so it really spiked my curiosity. My father had prostrate cancer and I had cervical cancer at the age of 20 so I am looking for any clue or link. I have discovered a link on Endometriosis/Dioxins/Cancer, see:

I am a survivor, my Father beat his prostrate cancer but my Mother died of Breast Cancer. Just to encourage you, you can beat it. One thing that might be of help, my Father and I don’t sit too long, we are always on our feet. My Dad suffered from heart disease so it was hard for him to breath when he walked but it didn’t stop him. I have joint, organ and muscle pain so it is painful for me to keep going but I do. My Mother was quite crippled with her arthritis and what I believe she also had undiagnosed Endometriosis and Fibromyalgia herself but she was told for years it was in her head so she gave up on Doctors. The lesson I learned from my parents early deaths is no matter how painful, I will not give up because once you get down, it is hard to get back up and you might not! Don’t let cancer eat you up like it did my Mother. It is too painful to get up, see a chiropractor, osteopath, acupuncture, massage therapist or physical therapist to help you relieve the pain enough so you can get moving. We weren’t meant to sit, we will stagnate to our death and pain pills only lead to more complications. See:

Go to this website:
and click on the blue highlighted area for ethyl alcohol and 2-phenylphenol and read the side effects. It is harmful to humans.  It is something that goes in windshield washing
fluid, anti-freeze, rubber as well as cosmetics and preservatives in food. Ewww! There is a long list of side effects too.

I went to another website to find information on the ingredients and here is what they had to say about Lysol’s ingredients. My point here is to show how we can become ill without even realizing we are intoxicating ourselves. We are counting on the government, the FDA, the medical establishment to be protecting us. After all isn’t’ that why they are getting paid so well?

My Doctor wanted me to go on Lyrica, the new drug treatment of choice now for Fibromyalgia. Isn’t it ironic that one of the side effects are muscle problems, muscle pain, soreness, or weakness, so if this is a daily occurrence for people with Fibromyalgia, how would one know? What scares me was the list of side effect LYRICA may cause such as suicidal thoughts and serious, even life-threatening, allergic reactions. Once you get a life threatening reaction to a drug, you tend to inquire about ALL the side effects of the drug they are prescribing to you.

Article from:

LYRICA (LEER-i-kah) (pregabalin)
Capsules and Oral Solution, CV
Read this Medication Guide before you start taking LYRICA and each time you get a refill. There may be new information. This information does not take the place of talking to your healthcare provider about your medical condition or treatment. If you have any questions about LYRICA, ask your healthcare provider or pharmacist.

What is the most important information I should know about LYRICA?
1. LYRICA may cause serious, even life-threatening, allergic reactions.
Stop taking LYRICA and call your healthcare provider right away if you have any of these signs of a serious allergic reaction:

– swelling of your face, mouth, lips, gums, tongue, throat or neck

– trouble breathing

– rash, hives (raised bumps) or blisters
2. Like other antiepileptic drugs, LYRICA may cause suicidal thoughts or actions in a very small number of people, about 1 in 500.
Call a healthcare provider right away if you have any of these symptoms,
especially if they are new, worse, or worry you:

– thoughts about suicide or dying

– attempts to commit suicide

– new or worse depression

– new or worse anxiety

– feeling agitated or restless

– panic attacks

– trouble sleeping (insomnia)

– new or worse irritability

– acting aggressive, being angry, or violent

– acting on dangerous impulses

– an extreme increase in activity and talking (mania)

– other unusual changes in behavior or mood

If you have suicidal thoughts or actions, do not stop LYRICA without first talking to a healthcare provider.

Stopping LYRICA suddenly can cause serious problems.

– Suicidal thoughts or actions can be caused by things other than medicines. If you have suicidal thoughts or actions, your healthcare provider may check for other causes.
How can I watch for early symptoms of suicidal thoughts and actions?
– Pay attention to any changes, especially sudden changes, in mood, behaviors, thoughts, or feelings.

– Keep all follow-up visits with your healthcare provider as scheduled.

– Call your healthcare provider between visits as needed, especially if you are worried about symptoms.

3. LYRICA may cause swelling of your hands, legs and feet. This swelling can be a serious problem for people with heart problems.

4. LYRICA may cause dizziness and sleepiness.
Do not drive a car, work with machines, or do other dangerous activities until you know how LYRICA affects you. Ask your healthcare provider about when it will be okay to do these activities.

What is LYRICA?
LYRICA is a prescription medicine used in adults, 18 years and older, to treat:
– pain from damaged nerves (neuropathic pain) that happens with diabetes
– pain from damaged nerves (neuropathic pain) that follows healing of shingles
– partial seizures when taken together with other seizure medicines
– fibromyalgia (pain all over your body)
LYRICA has not been studied in children under 18 years of age.
Who Should Not Take LYRICA?
Do not take LYRICA if you are allergic to pregabalin or any of the ingredients in LYRICA.

What should I tell my healthcare provider before taking LYRICA?
Before taking LYRICA, tell your healthcare provider about all your medical conditions, including if you:
– have or have had depression, mood problems or suicidal thoughts or behavior
– have kidney problems or get kidney dialysis
– have heart problems including heart failure
– have a bleeding problem or a low blood platelet count
– have abused prescription medicines, street drugs, or alcohol in the past
– have ever had swelling of your face, mouth, tongue, lips, gums, neck, or throat (angioedema)
plan to father a child. Animal studies have shown that pregabalin, the activeingredient in LYRICA, made male animals less fertile and caused sperm to change. Also, in animal studies, birth defects were seen in the offspring (babies) of male animals treated with pregabalin. It is not known if these problems can happen in people who take LYRICA.
are pregnant or plan to become pregnant. It is not known if LYRICA will harm your unborn baby. You and your healthcare provider will have to decide if you should take LYRICA while you are pregnant. If you become pregnant while taking LYRICA, talk to your healthcare provider about registering with the North American Antiepileptic Drug Pregnancy Registry. You can enroll in this registry by calling 1-888-233-2334. The purpose of this registry is to collect information about the safety of antiepileptic drugs during pregnancy.
– are breastfeeding. It is not known if LYRICA passes into breast milk and if it can harm your baby. You and your healthcare provider should discuss whether you should take LYRICA or breast-feed, but you should not do both. Tell your healthcare provider about all the medicines you take including prescription and non-prescription medicines, vitamins or herbal supplements. LYRICA and other medicines may affect each other causing side effects. Especially tell your healthcare provider if you take:
angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors, which are used to treat many conditions, including high blood pressure. You may have a higher chance for swelling and hives if these medicines are taken with LYRICA.
Avandia (rosiglitazone), Avandamet (contains rosiglitazone and metformin), or Actos (pioglitazone) for diabetes. You may have a higher chance of weight gain or swelling of your hands or feet if these medicines are taken with LYRICA.
– any narcotic pain medicine (such as oxycodone), tranquilizers or medicines for anxiety (such as lorazepam). You may have a higher chance for dizziness and sleepiness if these medicines are taken with LYRICA.
any medicines that make you sleepy
Know the medicines you take. Keep a list of them with you to show your healthcare provider and pharmacist each time you get a new medicine. Do not start a new medicine without talking with your healthcare provider.
How should I take LYRICA?
– Take LYRICA exactly as prescribed. Your healthcare provider will tell you how much LYRICA to take and when to take it. Take LYRICA at the same times each day.
– LYRICA may be taken with or without food.
– Your healthcare provider may change your dose. Do not change your dose without talking to your healthcare provider.
– Do not stop taking LYRICA without talking to your healthcare provider. If you stop taking LYRICA suddenly you may have headaches, nausea, diarrhea or trouble sleeping. If you have epilepsy and you stop taking LYRICA suddenly, you
may have seizures more often. Talk with your healthcare provider about how to stop LYRICA slowly.
– If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, just skip the missed dose. Take the next dose at your regular time. Do not take two doses at the same time.
– If you take too much LYRICA, call your healthcare provider or poison control center, or go to the nearest emergency room right away.
What should I avoid while taking LYRICA?
– Do not drive a car, work with machines, or do other dangerous activities until you know how LYRICA affects you.
– Do not drink alcohol while taking LYRICA. LYRICA and alcohol can affect each other and increase side effects such as sleepiness and dizziness.
What are the possible side effects of LYRICA?
LYRICA may cause serious side effects, including:

muscle problems, muscle pain, soreness, or weakness. If you have these symptoms, especially if you feel sick and have a fever, tell your healthcare provider right away.

problems with your eyesight, including blurry vision. Call your healthcare provider if you have any changes in your eyesight.

weight gain. If you have diabetes, weight gain may affect the management of your diabetes. Weight gain can also be a serious problem for people with heart problems.

feeling “high”

The most common side effects of LYRICA are:
– dizziness

– blurry vision

– weight gain

– sleepiness

– trouble concentrating

– swelling of hands and feet

– dry mouth
LYRICA caused skin sores in animal studies. Skin sores did not happen in studies in people. If you have diabetes, you should pay attention to your skin while taking LYRICA and tell your healthcare provider about any sores or skin problems. Tell your healthcare provider about any side effect that bothers you or that does not go away. These are not all the possible side effects of LYRICA. For more information, ask your healthcare provider or pharmacist. Call your doctor for medical advice about side effects. You may report side effects to FDA at 1-800-FDA-1088.

Read that headline and think about what the world has become. This type of action and thinking is coming from either a sick mind, perhaps insane, on drugs or it is all about greed and profits? When you hear a government is capable of doing this to the people it makes you wonder about who you are putting your trust into running your country.
This is why we need world government. How can the rest of the world sit back and let these things happen. Like the FDA trying to crush your right to natural health information & throwing you in jail for advertising the healing properties of walnuts. Throwing you in jail for healing people? Who do they think they are?

‘Kosovo army killed civilians, then sold their kidneys on black market’
05:54 AM Dec 16, 2010
PARIS – Civilians detained by the Kosovo Liberation Army were allegedly shot to death in northern Albania so their kidneys could be extracted and sold on the black market after the war in Kosovo ended in 1999, according to a report prepared for Europe’s premier human rights watchdog.

The 55-page report by Council of Europe investigator Dick Marty – more than two years in the making – found that there were a number of detention facilities in Albania, where both Kosovan opponents of the KLA and Serbs were allegedly held, including a “state-of-the-art reception centre for the organised crime of organ trafficking”.

The report said the captives had their blood drawn and tested to help determine whether their organs would be suitable for transplant and were examined “by men referred to as ‘doctors'” in the towns of Rripe and Fushe-Kruje.

In his report, Mr Marty says that Fushe-Kruje was selected for its proximity to Albania’s main international airport, which “therefore offered accessibility for incoming international visitors and outgoing shipments alike”.

The report also pointed to “a small but inestimably powerful group of KLA personalities” known as the Drenica Group whose “boss” was Kosovo’s current Prime Minister and former KLA leader, Hashim Thaci.

Kosovo’s Government branded the report as “baseless” and described it as an attempt “to tarnish the image of the Kosovo Liberation Army”. In a statement, the government also accused Mr Marty of bias and “fabrications”.

Mr Marty said his findings were based on testimonies of “KLA insider sources” such as drivers, bodyguards and other “fixers” involved in logistical and practical tasks, as well as “organisers”, or the ringleaders behind the lucrative organ trade.

The report, however, does not name any of the sources, or the number of people who were allegedly killed in the process.

A Kosovo court heard a prosecutor’s arguments yesterday that seven Kosovans on trial were part of the elaborate international network trading in the organs of people living in extreme poverty.

The seven have pleaded not guilty to charges ranging from people trafficking to unlawful medical practices and abuse of power.

Two other suspects – a Turkish and an Israeli national – remain at large. AP,-then-sold-their-kidneys-on-black-market

A case as gruesome as it is shocking. A surgeon and 6 other suspects are accused of  running an international organ traffic ring. Victims were lured from other countries have their kidneys removed.

U.S. Professor: I told FBI about kidney

trafficking 7 years ago

Scheper-Hughes says she heard reports that suspect in massive U.S. graft case held donors at gunpoint.

By Natasha Mozgovaya

The alleged crimes of the Brooklyn man arrested Thursday for dealing in black-market kidneys were first reported by an anthropologist from the University of California, Berkeley, who learned of the man’s suspected involvement through her research.

Such reports that she received from her sources compelled her to go to the authorities. She met with an FBI agent at a Manhattan hotel and gave him information about Rosenbaum, but she says that the Bureau acted only much later. The Berkeley scholar is said to have identified Rosenbaum to the FBI seven years ago as a major figure in a global human organ ring.

One out of every five adult males in some of Moldova’s poorest villages has had his kidney removed, according to Scheper-Hughes. But a 2004 State Department report stated that “it would be impossible to conceal a clandestine organ trafficking ring.”

Back in Brooklyn, Rosenbaum was contacted by an FBI informant – Solomon Dwek, the son of a well-respected rabbi – who introduced Rosenbaum to an undercover agent who said she wanted to buy a kidney for her uncle. During one encounter, Rosenbaum is said to have boasted that he had facilitated “many deals and had never failed.” Rosenbaum was recorded saying: “I’m doing this a long time.”

Canada is suffering with a heroin problem because of Afghanistan. Isn’t it amazing how a war can effect everyone in some way? That’s the butterfly effect.
If 48 million people over the age of 12 in the U.S. have used prescription drugs for non-medical purposes, how many people world wide are using prescriptions? Do you see the passive income and profit here? Wow! KA-CHING, KA-CHING!! We are a pill popping nation whether it is street drugs or prescription drugs. IS ANYONE DRIVING SOBER? I did an article (link below) on corporations that have pied guilty or no contest to crimes and have been criminally fined in the United States. Think about how much of this is going on worldwide.

Prescription Drug Abuse Statistics

growing problems in the United States is prescription

– The National Institutes of Health (NIH) estimates that close to 20 percent of people (48 million) over the age of 12 in the U.S. have used prescription drugs for non-medical purposes.

according to research, one of the growing causes of the increasing incidence of prescription drug abuse is the availability of drugs. This makes it easier for abusers to “pharm” prescriptions drugs. This practice of taking handfuls of drugs from wherever possible is especially growing amongst the youth.

– 9.3 percent of 12th graders report that they used Vicodin without a prescription, and 5 percent report using OxyContin. And these are just two drugs

– most common targets are strong painkillers such as Vicodin and OxyContin

– use of tranquilizers is increasing as well.

– the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) reports that nearly 3 million teenagers and young adults (those aged 12 to 25) become new abusers of prescription drugs.

56 percent of the 6 million new prescription drug abusers were over the age of 18

prescription drug abuse is rising amongst the elderly as well. Even though only 13 percent of the population, the elderly account for about 1/3 of the prescriptions, reports NIH. This lends itself to prescription drug abuse.

Canada faces a flood of heroin and addicts

By Alex Roslin and Bilbo Poynter, Postmedia News December 12, 2010

Treatment centres in cities around Canada are struggling to cope with a surge of addicts — many younger than ever before — who are hooked on a rising tide of heroin pouring into this country from war-torn Afghanistan.

It’s a similar story across much of the rest of the world. After years of declining use in the 1990s, heroin and other opiates have made a startling resurgence around the globe — thanks in large part to a 37-fold increase in Afghan opium production since 2001, when Canadian soldiers helped the U.S. overthrow the country’s Taliban government. Afghanistan now supplies 92 per cent of the world’s opium.

Increased heroin supply in Canada, Europe and Asia and falling prices of the drug are the little-noticed side-effects of the Western presence in Afghanistan since 2001.

Rise in U.S. prescription drug abuse: Study

AFP September 17, 2010

WASHINGTON — The number of Americans who used illegal drugs or abused prescription medications rose last year to reach its highest level since 2002, a survey released Thursday showed.

Nearly 22 million Americans aged 12 and older used illegal drugs in 2009, a rise of nine percent from 2008, the survey conducted by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) found.

Some seven million Americans older than 12 took prescription drugs for non-medical reasons. The bulk of the abuse of prescription medications involved painkillers, which some 5.3 million Americans used off-label last year — a rise of 20 percent from 2002.

Among teens, the rate of nonmedical prescription painkiller use rose 17 percent year on year, with most youngsters saying they got the meds from friends, family or an unsecured medicine cabinet.

Sixty percent more Americans used methamphetamine in 2009 versus 2008, and three-quarters of a million used ecstasy in 2009, the highest number of users since 2002.

“There is a relationship between economic issues and substance abuse,” she said.

The rate of drug abuse among the unemployed was double that of Americans with full-time jobs — 17 percent versus eight percent.

On a brighter note, cocaine use among 18-25 year olds has fallen by 18 percent since 2007.

10 hair straightening products

centre of Health Canada warning

By Bradley Bouzane, Postmedia News December 12, 2010

OTTAWA — Health Canada has put a stop-sale order on 10 hair-straightening products after they were found to contain excessive levels of formaldehyde.

The products, which are professional-grade and available in hair salons and typically not available to the public, have been linked to hair loss, watery eyes and other symptoms consistent with overexposure to formaldehyde.

Consumer complaints included reports of burning eyes, nose, and throat and breathing difficulties.

The order, which means providers should stop using the products immediately, was issued Friday evening.

Health Canada received at least 30 adverse-reaction reports to the use of the products. No deaths have been reported.

The Canada Border Service Agency has been advised to turn away the products, which originate in the United States, if they arrive at the border.

The affected products are: Brazilian Keratin Treatment, Advanced Brazilian Keratin Treatment, Chocolate Extreme De-Frizzing Treatment; Keratin Complex Smoothing Therapy; Global Keratin Taming System Strawberry; Global Keratin Taming System with Juvexin Strawberry Resistant; Global Keratin Taming System with Juvexin Strawberry Light Wave; Pro-Collagen RX Keratin Treatment; IStraight Keratin (Advanced Keratin Treatment); Brazilian Thermal Reconstruction.

The highest formaldehyde content was at seven per cent, while the lowest content among the affected products was 1.4 per cent, Health Canada said. Cosmetics are permitted in Canada to have up to 0.2 per cent formaldehyde for use as a preservative.

In October, high formaldehyde levels were discovered in Brazilian Blowout solution, another hair smoothing agent which is also available at Canadian hair salons.

Health Canada tests indicated the solution had 12 per cent formaldehyde.

Formaldehyde is a known irritant and has links to cancer when inhaled over a long time period.

I am sure glad I used glass bottles when I raised my boys. I warmed it up in a pot on the stove vs the plastic bottles in the microwave they use nowadays. There seems to be a lot of childhood allergies, obesity, ADD & ADHD in the plastic bottle babies era. Then they drug them with Ritalin which is another story. We don’t even know the long term effects of the microwave yet. There is an unbelievable amount of information stacking again BPA and with all the new diseases in today’s society, plastic is just another a piece to the puzzle  cancer and disease just as MSG, Aspartame, Flu Shots, Preservatives, Chemicals and Drugs are.

I found a great website with great information, check out their website on BPA.

The leaching of BPA from the polycarbonate plastics and the polycarbonate plastic lining of containers is particularly alarming in light of the serious health risks associated with BPA ingestion. More than 200 lab animal tests to date strongly suggest that BPA exposure, even at very low doses, creates risks of dangerous developmental, neural and reproductive health effects in infants and children. Exposure to BPA, even at low and short-term doses, is linked to a staggering number of health problems, including:

Younger Canadians have more BPA in

their bodies than parents: Study

By Sarah Schmidt, Postmedia News August 17, 2010

OTTAWA — Canadian children and teenagers have higher levels of bisphenol A in their urine than their parents and grandparents, according to the government’s first-ever national survey on the exposure of chemicals — which also found that nearly all Canadians have the estrogen-mimicking toxin in their bodies.

The Statistics Canada study, conducted in partnership with Health Canada, found that nine out of 10 Canadians aged six to 79, or 91 per cent of the population, have BPA in their urine. But young people aged 12 to 19 had an average level of 1.50 parts per billion — higher than the overall average of 1.16 parts per billion.

Bisphenol A can leach into food from the protective epoxy resin coatings of canned foods or beverages and from such consumer products as polycarbonate tableware, plastic food storage containers and reusable hard plastic bottles.

Study links receipts, cash to cancer

and obesity

AFP December 8, 2010 Comments (8)

Cash register receipts and paper money have been found to contain high levels of bisphenol A (BPA), a chemical linked to cancer, obesity and early puberty, a study published Wednesday says.

Researchers from U.S. non-profit groups Safer Chemicals, Safer Families and the Washington Toxics Coalition tested till receipts made from thermal paper which they collected from 22 popular retailers and cafes, and found that half of them were coated with large quantities of BPA.

“Since BPA in thermal paper is present in a powdery film, we suspected it could easily travel from those receipts to other objects,” says the study, led by Washington Toxics Coalition scientist Erika Schreder.

Holding the receipts for just 10 seconds caused up to 2.5 micrograms of BPA to transfer from the paper onto a person’s fingers, and rubbing the receipts increased around 15-fold the amount of BPA transferred from the receipts onto fingers, the study said.

From the fingers, the BPA transferred easily onto dollar bills: the researchers found the chemical on 21 of 22 bills tested, although in much lower levels than on the till receipts.

More than 130 studies over the past decade have linked even low levels of BPA to serious health problems, including breast cancer, obesity and early onset of puberty.

The European Union last month followed Canada’s lead and banned the use of BPA in baby bottles after tests showed the petroleum product can affect neural development and behavior in laboratory animals exposed to the chemical in the womb or very early in life.

But BPA is still widely used in plastic water jugs, soft drink cans, hockey helmets, mobile phone housings, computers, car bumpers and other consumer products, and the health impact of the chemical on humans has been disputed.

Last month, the World Health Organization said BPA does not accumulate in the body, but admitted that “recent experimental and epidemiological studies found associations between low BPA exposure levels and some adverse health outcomes.”

Andy Igrejas, director of Safer Chemicals, Healthy Families called on U.S. lawmakers to toughen up the law that regulates chemicals in the United States in the light of the study’s findings.

“BPA on receipts, dollar bills and in many other products is a direct result of the absurdly lax controls on chemicals in the United States,” he said, calling on the incoming Congress to reform “the failed 1976 Toxic Substances Control Act.”

The Rayburn Cafe in the U.S. House of Representatives was one of the establishments where till receipts were found to have high levels of BPA, according to the study, which was published online by the two nonprofits.
