Muscle pain can be so unbearable with Fibromyalgia, you could’t possibly understand unless you have experience it. Here are some new finding that sound very promising. In the July 2010 Alive magazine there was an article called Fight Fibromyalgia by Emina Jasarevic, ND. There was a lot of great advice but the new research and test really caught my attention. It gave hope that they are finding proof that the illness is real. It read:
Researchers are starting to examine the multiple causes underlying FM. Jacob Teitelbaum, MD, is studying hypothalamic dysfunction wherein the control center in the brain that monitors sleep, hormone regulation and the immune system does not work properly.
There are also more sensitive tests (saliva or urine) that actually measure the unbound (or biologically active) hormones in the body that contribute to FM symptoms. These tests more reliably demonstrate imbalances in the reproductive hormones, thyroid hormones, and adrenal hormones, and can be conducted by a Naturopathic doctor.
I was diagnosed by my gynecologist, Dr Pettle with low thyroid, progesterone and adrenal hormones. Regular doctors do not test for these things and it can really make a difference in your well being. When your adrenals are down, it is like you have a 500 lb weight on you and you can’t get it off. It has made a major difference in my life yet our health care won’t recognize this treatment. It hasn’t rid me of my Fibromyalgia but it has helped with feeling alive. If I stop the natural meds I get a lot of symptoms back and when you have chronic pain in your muscles you don’t need a pile of other symptoms knawing away at you.
I grew up thinking that the Dr knows best but through the last 20 years my views have changed drastically. Even more dramatically in the last few years.
The Naturopath who brought me back to life from the Lupron, led me to Dr. Pettle. His expertise has found the hormones I needed to start to make a difference in my health. The low adrenals felt like something was sucking the life out of me. I kept asking for help but I received the same answer, it is the Fibromyalgia. Sure enough there is fatigue with Fibromyalgia but when it is sheer exhaustion, get it investigated. I could feel in my heart there was something wrong and I was right. Dr Pettle said, “Your adrenals are close to shutting down!” I feel a sense of well being now and that is comforting. I would recommend you invest in finding someone who can check your hormone health extensively. Find someone who specializes in it, not just a regular gp. I am lucky to have one of the best:
